A Hidden Gems pick, so I'm thinking, not a bad plan to follow suit!

Has real estate ever stayed down for the long run? As long as population increases in a fixed space, housing needs will increase. This is a well run player in the market.

This is a stock that cycles but eventually goes up to the 60-80 range. It could take 2 years instead of the 1 year I project but over 2 years it may not beat the market

great value

Is this the bottom for homebuilders? Who knows. Good geographically diversified builder selling close to book value. Can it go lower? Sure, but in the long run it should do quite nicely.

Worth buying even if profits are cut in half and it stops growing.

Mr. Market hates it.

The economic environment for home builders is tough
in the short term (6 months).

This home building company has equity higher than market cap! Combine this with good return on equity and its like buying a house on sale, that pays you a mortgage!

I feel a sense of confidence, maybe not always completely accurate, when a recommendation is very close to what I was already thinking. Thus, when MDC was recently recommended in Hidden gems due to the slump in the home-building market and hence great under-priced opportunity for home building stocks, I was pleased because I was already seriously considering Toll Brothers (TOL) for similar reasons. But closer review showed that although TOL looked to be cheap for what you got, MDC was even cheaper and had a little less debt.
Recs
Entering a downturn in its market. It will get clobbered more, but then recover healthily.
Recs
Imagine we will see more expense for letting deposits and options on future land expire. Do we know how much more the company has under option, and in which states? I am in FL, and feel they do not need to close on any more land here for awhile.
