creates pace makers, stents, etc. for the aging baby boomers.

Long-term winner, baby boomers will continue to drive demand for products

Good ratios, seems to be in on R&D, has a better than 2% yield. The population of the US is getting older.
Seems like a buy

Best of breed medtech will see profits rise as acute care gpos become less important. Note I am not that bullish on medtech in general - I want to short almost everything else - but I want to take best of breed as a sort of hedge
Recs
I've already booked +33% on this one but see it going to $55 within two years.

MDT has (another) new management team. Insiders thought that this team would be a return to "boy George" days, but no dice. The new team has seen fit to add more VP's while sending a clear message that it will reduce headcount in U.S. while adding more outside of U.S. and telling the world that it is net adding, which indeed is true. Perhaps I'm too parochial in my perspective, but looks like we'll just see more of the same. The focus on real long-term innovation is lacking. And, by the way, I've seen the movie before where engineers run operations, and it doesn't usually work too well. Of course adding more VP's is an interesting notion - board better get into this, or it is just another wallowing giant, asking for the "Fools" to performs. Like any of Willy Shakespeare's Fools, we see behind the curtain, and also see the courtier's for the buckets of suet they are. This Dog won't hunt.
Recs
Kinda topping out right now, but I'm holding this one long term for the Baby Boomer effect.
Recs
The BMW Method is signaling a Buy now. I've done my research, and MDT is at the moment #1 on my list of 30 stocks I've been tracking the last few months. (Tied for #1.) Probably gonna take some profit on some AAPL and pick up some MDT, see what happens...
Recs
Wonderful business, wide moat, solid div. Great price. Long term hold.
Recs
Well, this is down now, and may go lower short term. DCF values them at $68-$69. Paying a divididend. Work through the short term woes and they'll gain traction.
Recs
We will all need one if we are to live past our useful life

The healthcare sector is in the midst of restructuring. The sagging economy and Government healthcare reforms dealt a severe blow to providers. Medtronic is a major player in the healthcare sector and felt the effects. However, Medtronic has shown a steady increase in earnings per share, sales, and dividends. I feel the company is positioned to continue growth . On the other hand, there are some major concerns. Although Medtronic faltered in July, it found support and now trades over it's 200 day moving average at $39.03. The problem is, it is near the upper resistance of $43.33 and the Qtr.(01/12) estimates are dismal. This could affect the breakout and reduce the stocks performance. Therefore my prediction is a short term gain.
