Dividends500 tracks the 200 strongest dividends in the S&P 500. To qualify as a strong dividend, the company must meet two simple requirements:

- A payout ratio below 50%
- An increasing dividend from the prior year

Because there are more than 200 dividend paying companies in the S&P 500 that meet these requirements, the qualifying companies with the largest dividend yields were chosen.

Dividends500 intends to test this FactSet article, which highlights these strong dividend paying companies and their outperformance versus the S&P 500 as a whole (Page 12).

Another of Eddie's CWS stocks on the list for 8 years. I think it is a fantastic business selling at a fair price. This one may overshoot though. It has in the past and it has great price action recently. If it does I'll let it run. I would expect $67-73 by year end. If it hits $80 I think it's probably a sell unless earnings have popped. I'll have to re-evaluate if I get there.

At a PE under the market, no debt problems, a gross profit of 75+ and a good dividend, this is a buy (again)

Best of breed medtech will see profits rise as acute care gpos become less important. Note I am not that bullish on medtech in general - I want to short almost everything else - but I want to take best of breed as a sort of hedge

MDT has (another) new management team. Insiders thought that this team would be a return to "boy George" days, but no dice. The new team has seen fit to add more VP's while sending a clear message that it will reduce headcount in U.S. while adding more outside of U.S. and telling the world that it is net adding, which indeed is true. Perhaps I'm too parochial in my perspective, but looks like we'll just see more of the same. The focus on real long-term innovation is lacking. And, by the way, I've seen the movie before where engineers run operations, and it doesn't usually work too well. Of course adding more VP's is an interesting notion - board better get into this, or it is just another wallowing giant, asking for the "Fools" to performs. Like any of Willy Shakespeare's Fools, we see behind the curtain, and also see the courtier's for the buckets of suet they are. This Dog won't hunt.

Kinda topping out right now, but I'm holding this one long term for the Baby Boomer effect.
