+ Watch MEMS
on My Watchlist
Frost & Sullivan gave Memsic the 2007 Award for Excellence in Technology. They said the following about the company: "MEMSIC has a proven track record and provides some of the most reliable accelerometers aimed primarily at automotive and consumer sectors. Its accelerometers have the lowest failure rate for any device in its class. Their reliability coupled with low cost open up new applications especially in the coveted consumer electronic sector. The company is also the largest supplier of accelerometers and tilt sensors in Asia and is the first MEMS manufacturer to provide hard disk drive (HDD) protection in laptops.MEMSIC has been issued two patents and has another five pending...."Customers include Lenovo-IBM, SONY, Panasonic, Autoliv, IN Focus, TOMTOM, and MITSUBISHI. Given the apparently superior technology and strong customer base, the company should do well if it is managed well. I have not seen anything negative about the CEO. Revenues are increasing. Earnings per employee are very poor at this stage but hopefully they will reach industry standard. I hope it isn't because they are running a sweat shop.My main purpose with this pick is to see if I can evaluate early stage companies.
