3M Company (MMM)

Company looks good, but way too high currently - lots of debt the past two years, until revenue can start rising, it's hard to justify the stock being so close to it's 52 week high

MMM has an ossified command and control structure. there aren't any new ideas or products here.

I smell a bad earnings report coming. I think they will do great six months down the road, but the economy is still lousy right now. Buy on a 10% drop and hold it. You won't be sorry.

Can someone tell me if I am awake or is this a bad dream

the future is not plastics, at least petroleum-based ones.

Bear Market

3M has stretched itself over a vast variety of great products, but they have stagnated themselves. Unless they shake up their product line somehow, either with a new look or better advertising, their prices will start to fall.

This stock hasn't chose what it wants to do. Its been staying pretty steady (within $10) just when you think its on the up run, it goes back down, and just when you think it might keep going down it starts to go back up. this stock is defiantly one to keep an eye on. once this stock breaks its trend its going to go far, whether thats up or down. Knowing 3m the stock shouldn't go down too much. Ultimately i think this stock is always a good long term stock. but talking short term, it would be a good idea to make some money off this by selling calls or puts or any strategy that will make you money while the stock stays pretty steady.

its hard not to go under correction at this price

it is a cyclical stock perhaps exposure abroad will do well ( in currency exchange w/ the Euro high ) but here at home, business is slow

3M sucks 3rd QTR and 4th Qtr historically as it never makes the investor happy - misses the mark. come 2008 Qtr 1 and into April-mAy it hits on all 8 pistons -go figure exec option plans...

I think that you 3M bulls haven't actually used 3M products lately. There's a good reason 3M is lagging and that's because the company and its products are lagging. 3M and the 3M products aren't what they used to be. The company has been stumbling and until they get the company back in the groove the stock deserves to underperform.

the answer is so pridictable ... you have to come to a stop again and buy not trimming the fat you instad lighten up the investors' wallets.

it's time to take my advise mmm is a bad patient waiting for a heart attack, so before before mmm goes down again ....you should run out while mmm is still able to move...

Here on MMM, despite liking the company's business I find its stock extended given the slowing-growth US environment. Even the phrase "soft landing" still includes the word "landing". Since I've decided to start fading select five-star, large-constituency stocks, that's enough for me. A game-theoretic experiment, I guess.

This company has over 60% of its business coming from outside the US. While the dollar appears to be gaining in valuation this puts a downward pressure on earnings based in foriegn currency. Additionally, the company has spent a great deal of cash for acquisitions which it is poorly structured to manage. This will be a drain on future earnings. Lastly, there has been little organic growth within the company and few products in the pipline. The overall ROI for the $ invested in R
