With the auto makers getting killed on new auto sales and leasing down, the used car market with continue to expand with consumers keeping their cars longer in the near term. This is bulish for Monroe as they are one of the few pure plays on auto repairs.

I own this stock, but have traded it on a seasonal basis. I have a history of selling in Feb and buying back in July. There is a $30M or 6% stock buy back declared, which will have some effet in minimizing the seasonal effect this year. It has about 350% growth over the last five years.

Monro, the Star!!!
Monro Muffler Brake is a chain of 699 Company-operated stores and 16 dealer-operated stores providing automotive under-car repair and tire services in the United States. The company provides various services for brakes, mufflers and exhaust systems as well as steering, drive train, suspension, and wheel alignments in passenger cars, light trucks, and vans. Additionally, they offer oil change services, heating and cooling system ‘flush and fill’ services, transmission ‘flush and fill’ services and belt installation.
Demand for automotive repair services, including undercar repair and tire services, has increased due to the general increase in the number of vehicles registered, the growth in vehicle miles driven and the rise in the average age of vehicles. As a result the Do-it-for-me (DIFM) market is forecasted to grow immensely in future. This foretells a prosperous story for the company, which is operating in the thriving auto repairs industry. Also, increasing number of cars coming off warranty period is likely to better company’s performance ahead. Easing of gasoline prices for the next few months as forecasted by Energy Information Administration could drive traffic in the near future. The third quarter performance of the company was also good with 15% rise in the topline that was powered by tires and service locations.
Acquisition of 75 Procare locations has been materializing well by generating revenues coupled with fast improvement in its same-store sales. Company is also focusing on improving their tire sales that now constitutes 10% of their sales. With strong results, management expects about 6% growth in same-store sales for the fourth quarter and 10% full-year earning growth. Also, revenue growth of the company has witnessed a positive trend over the past few quarters. Taking note of all these aspects, the stock looks ready to move ahead.

This pick is mainly me playing around with some small, local companies. Monroe Muffler is profitable and growing, so hopefully this pick does well.
