You smell that? Do you smell that? Manure, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of manure in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill sprayed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink pesky insects. The smell, you know that manure smell, the whole hill. Smelled like...victory. Someday this Agribusiness run up is gonna end....

Demand for fertilizer and high quality agricultural products will go up in the long term. The market has lots of potential growth options as well especially in underdeveloped regions of the world that haven't modernized their agricultural practices.

Trait pipeline is growing. Existing traits are providing solid stream of continuous income. Physical seed sales are irrelevant as traits are the true money. Also, basic ai production in chemicals provides good return as well. Able to compete against generic competition due to economy of scale. MON has proven management team that knows how to make money, despite what consumer sentiment is.

Monsanto has historically outperformed the S&P, especially since 2003. The CEO is the largest major direct holder, which I like to see. CEO's pockets tied to company usu. means he'll do his best to do a good job. Stockholder's equity and net income has consistently increased 2004-2006. With ethanol buzz, corn prices and need for biotech, this company should do well. P/E is way higher than I'd like to see however.

Remember the gold rush? Seeds and fertilizers are the modern shovels.

Purely on the basis of this entry in footnoted.org:
..... attached to Monsanto’s recent 10-K was this small exhibit detailing the Company’s new "Recoupment Policy".
Under the terms of the recoupment policy, if, as a result of "misconduct", the Company is required to restate its financials due to "noncompliance of the Company with any financial reporting requirement under the securities laws, each of the Company’s ‘Specified Executive Officers’ shall reimburse the Company for any incentive award made to such executive officer on the basis of having met or exceeded specific targets for performance periods" up to a year after the fraudulent filing.
I like the sound of the management. Seems like they're trying to protect the shareholders a little. =)
