The Ag boom is catching a breather before the marathon continues.
Recs
Monsanto owns the gm-seed market, and with the price of corn and cotton up, in combination with poor yields, more farmers will be looking to buy seeds with insured yields next season.
Recs
$6.00 corn, dominance in the trait market, huge plays in germplasm over the last few years while their competitors spun their wheels--this should stay moving.

People need food, they help create food, sort of.

transgenics are good. Herbicides are good.

This stock is a great choice. By evaluating this company and looking at their growth pattern and their marketing strategies this is a sure fire stock to pick. This company has great leadership with the ability to think outside the box. With the possibility of some future acquisitions this has all the ingredients for wonderful success, short term and long term both. Keep up and watch out. With this outlook ahead, we should also look to the left and right (aka their competion) for huge leaps as well. If you have a little on the side I say diversify within the sector and buy from all the competetors too for they also are looking very solid. That is my pick and I am sticking to it.

the google of ag stocks. Monsanto has pledged to increase yields on corn, soybeans and cotton 3 fold by the year 2030. this stock will dominate agriculture in the next 20 years.

THIS IS A SOUND COMPANY WITH STRONG MANAGEMENT, GOOD RESEASH, EXCELLENT PRODUCTS AND EXPOSURE OVERSEAS. WHEN I READ YOUR WRITE UP I AM NOT SURE YOU ARE RECOMMMENDING THIS STOCK. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE MOTLEY FOOL WOULD BUY THIS STOCK?

Monsanto reached it's peak and went parabolic! I got out at 110 from the 2:1 split at 42 and made a very tidy profit. It is way over valued, a nod to it's popularity and confidence in ability to perform, so I don't see a significant increase coming for some time yet...but watch this spring, it very well could jump high again. Spring is Monsanto's season.

As the increasing demand for food grows so will the need for producers of agricultural products and farmers alike

I predict GMOs are going to be a staple in the unpredictable future...................?

Ag momentum slowing and overall investor sentiment is changing direction. I have seen a good share of top name funds liquidate their positions on this stock (this didn't help the price), but more importantly Hugh Grant (CEO) has liquidated millions of dollars of shares in his own company recently sending an even bleaker message. I am severly in the house of pain on this one, but have to accept it's direction- DOWN!

Great ag exposure. Sells corn seeds, and chems.

The technicals on this stock are not looking very good of late. There are some bearish divergences on the Stochastics and the RSI if you look at a 3 month chart. There are other bearish technicals such as the 30 Day Exponential Moving Average crossing above the 10 Day Simple Moving Average. I won't bore you with the rest.
Fundamentally: I find their genetically engineered corn that cannot reproduce absolutely reprehensible!!! I am a self taught master gardener and I am astounded that some of their products are allowed in the market place. I'm no radical tree hugger nor are my associates, and if we find it reprehensible, then long term I'd have to say that I'm bearish on this company.
Sincerely,
WiredMotley

Another nose-plugging pick for me, but I can't see how this company can fail to pull in a ton of cash in the coming years.
