I like this one over PFE because it is beaten down.

The price is right and there is plenty of opportunity for good surprises.

Merck is currently depressed in value and qualifies as a value purchase. It pays an excellent dividend and seems to have weathered the legal storms over Vytorin and Vioxx. A safe harbor in stormy times.

MRK's not going anywhere. This is one break through drug from returning to the 50$ a share mark. There are too many breakthrough drugs in the pipeline for one not to hit.

Great company. Good pipeline. High dividend. Good Management. Low P/E. I like it in low $30's and will add to position over time.

Solid pharmaceutical company with a 4.5% dividend yield and a bargain price.

MRK is breaking its 52 week lows due to analyst downgrades and negative findings in the SEAS study of vytorin. The negative findings in the SEAS study overshadowed decent earnings reports, though Merck may be suffering in domestic pharma markets its international sales were way up. Also, if Merck's HPV vaccine Gardasil is approved for women under the age of 9 and is FDA approved for men sales of the vaccine should skyrocket. Also, Januvia has had very successful sales. The current dividend yield is 4.8% and rising. The fundamentals are all there for Merck, this is definitely the time to buy and hold to reap long term gains.

Best pipeline of all the pharmaceuticals.

The bad news on Vytorin is highly overblown. My own cardiologist discounts the negativity and continues to prescribe it.

health care = great sector. greater demand for health and drugs as the population ages. all health care stocks very undervalued and overlooked. health a great sector in a bad or good market -can't go wrong

Good new drugs coming through the pipeline show this company is still an innovator in the pharma field that can grow earnings organically through their own R&D as opposed to purchasing tons of smaller firms and loading up on debt (Eli L.). Share price has been hammered all year and has finally gained some resistance. I think it's bottomed out and look for a mild recovery in the short term with long term prospects looking solid regardless of the macro-economic picture.

Pharmaceuticals are recovering from lows despite an overall decline in the markets.
