This company and other fiber players aren't going to beat the market. Fiber is a big deal, but it isn't a glamorous item at the forefront of people's mind. Wireless is going to continue to grow and outpace all other communications. Get used to the term un-tethered. This is the future. Not fiber...More

Recs 0 (MRVC) Budsworth (58.02) Submitted: 5/22/08 7:56 AM : Start Price: $1.85 MRVC Score: -32.62 I know our pessimists want to sell out fiber optics over wireless and satellite communications, although, you have to think about the big picture. We only have so much room around this little planet for communications satellites. There is already much concern within the international space agencies in dealing with this issue. That's only part of the issue. Fiber optics continue to operate under heavy cloud and storm conditions, mountainous regions and many parts of the globe where satellite communication are prohibitive. Not to get into the over 130,000 pieces of space junk that will be re-entering the atmosphere over the next number of decades. There is and will be a huge market for fiber optics in the near future. This company (MRV) has a solid game plan which includes companies like Time Warner and Texas Instruments. With operations in the works to cut costs by utilizing Chinese manufacturing, by the time all the pieces come together, I believe you will see a real solid growth for MRV. They expect to have a PE rating by sometime this summer. I hear you can expect the stock to double at the issuance of that news. A good stock to hold on to.
