Morgan Stanley is one of few banks that can actually perform extremely well in this environment. M&A activity is expected to increase into late next year, which represents great opportunities for their business. Last quarters results marked the beginning of an abrupt turn around, and I believe it's a mere glimpse of good things to come. Down the road--a few years out--MS will purchase the remaining Citi stake of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, which will also enhance their earnings power significantly, as their majority stake already has. I believe investors are underestimating MS, and are awaiting a few more "solid" performances before placing their bets. I don't see this stock being any where near these levels in a year's time. I don't like making hypothetical future stock quotes, but I'd say a year from now it will be trading in the $50/share range. This is a great long term pick, with excellent growth prospects. On a risk/reward basis this is a no brainer.

Banks Recover!! Banks Recover!!! Read all about it!!
And why -? Financial leaders and service providers that don't look at feelings or people - only bottom lines. Oh yeah . . . AND the banks really weren't that bad off. . . . Remember the oil "shortage" of the mid 70's????????

MS and GS stand head and shoulders above the remaining Ibanks (including European universal banks) wrt talent. I like MS better than GS due to its relative "discount" but am invested in both.

Another solid choice as recommended by Goldman Sachs

Strong enough to survive the downturn and will continue to pick up share post-lehman/bear/merrill/citi. Despite earnings "miss," quarter and outlook more positive than b of a and jpm. Great core business and smart management. Might not be as glamorous as GS but there are worse things to be than banking's walmart.

Kudos to Morgan Stanley for having the balls to send a thank you note to the government with their $10 billion TARP money!
We wonder if the note said:
1. Keep up those education cuts so the people picking up the bailout tab will never be able to read Section 4.9 of the CPP Securities Purchase Agreement
2. Thanks for shortchanging those taxpayers so our overworked and underpaid bank execs and their ball busting Lobbyists can pocket a few million
3. We wish to thank your appraisers for agreeing with our appraisers who independently low balled you.
Never fear Joe Average still holds GM warrants!
Regan vs. Obama
1980 when Chrysler wanted to get out of warrants owed to taxpayers for their bailout
Mr. Reagan told them to go to hell.
2009 when _________(you fill in the blank as the list will grow hourly) wanted to get out of warrants owed to taxpayers for their bailout
Mr. Obama told taxpayers the government is not in the business of making and saving you money were in the business of taking money from you!
Cheers Delta hedge season is over for you.

Morgan Stanley is a survivor and should grab a lot of business from the former Lehman Brothers.
