Windows 7 released Oct 09, backlog of companies needing to upgrade who had skipped Windows Vista. Captured 50% rise since 5/09 ! Even has a dividend.

Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated. Exceedingly profitable software maker will benefit from the upgrade cycle and more successful efforts in new businesses. I'm looking for 31.5% returns on equity and 13.5% growth over the next couple of years which should result in good returns.

Microsoft hasn't made a decent operating system since Windows XP in 2001. That was eight years ago.

The coming months will show that Windows 7 is not a good replacement for Vista. People want a safer OS without requiring 2GB of memory to run it. They will bounce back next year most likely and windows 8 will be more similar to windows XP.

everyone that hated vista and people with windows xp will upgrade to windows 7. xbox 360 is the best videogame system (my opinion) in the way of games and graphics. Although I still use google search by way of habit I like the results from Bing and I guess I can use that as a backup to google.

Microsoft has the corner on OS, and is making more and more inroads into, internet.

Windows 7: Solid Product - great momentum

Bing: Solid Product - gaining share

Office 2010 coming to market soon

Microsoft is in a major product launch window, plus they beat the street on Q1.

The question is will corporations who systems are dependant on XP and older versions of IE each spend millions in the next year to switch to 7. This is an issue for major corporations who are still using programs such as IE6 because of compatibility issues with newer versions of microsoft products and their own software applications. I can already tell you deploying a 7 customised clean image isnt as simple as XP. Will corporations be willing delagate resources to this new system in the next year ? Im saying no.

Bing is taking Market share and thier online division will soon be profitable. Windows 7 appears to be a success and has a total cool factor not to mention it is designed much better than previous offerings. Gaming is a solid revenue source and even the Zune HD and new retail stores have legit upside potential. Today they smashed earnings estimates and have had a nice 9% pop. I would not be shocked to see $40 a share by mid 2010 might be worth adding to your real portfolio.

Not cool products. Vista was a flop. Microsoft has lost it's ability to innovate. Matured company. Apple is now big brother...Microsoft is the baby.

Microsoft will remain relevant until the OS morphs into a web based operating platform. As more information moves into the "cloud", Microsoft will begin to phase out of the picture. I don't see them keeping up with Google in the coming years.
