Microsoft is the ultimate leader in computer technology. It will outpreform Dell by leaps and bounds.

May be more than a year, but I'm not Nostradamus. Vista is a flop. Nobody wants it. It hogs massive amounts of resources with no benefit. They only thing they have going for them is that Joe Sixpack will order from Dell and get what he gets (i.e. Vista), though Dell is still offering XP if you know how to find it. MSFT will make money on more XP sales, of course. But they sunk a lot of capital into Vista, and it's failing miserably.

Office is OK, but faces competition from open source programs. Plus, if you already have it why upgrade to the latest? 99% of users will not benefit from the few added features that may exist (let's face it, typing a letter is typing a letter...we've been able to do that since Word 2.0). No incentive to upgrade.

XBox was the first truly new thing to come out of MSFT for several years, and even that isn't new anymore. Microsoft will continue to make money, but don't expect big-time growth with offerings like these. I expect Microsoft will roughly pace the market, or lag a bit due to lowered expectations from disappointing 'new' products.

Vista backlash and lack of need to switch will cause MSFT not to meet expectations.

msft's new product cycle and determination to be #1 will payoff. The second quarter will show an upside surprise in earnings and upward guidance.

Any Owner/CEO of a company, who can leap through a dumpster full of (used) electronic parts to start their own corporation, definitely has my vote for "Market President"!

I believe that the present conditions will last for several months to as much as 6 months. After that, it seems to me, that the recent election of a new President, and some "smart" money creeping back in to the buy mode, the outlook is not as poor as most may believe.
YES!, the market will fluctuate, it does that no matter what. In general, I am hanging on to my winners and not, repeat, not, dumping anything that I have not previously sold.
