MW has diversified into Tux rental and Dry Cleaning. Its impact on Tux Rental has already been significant. Dry Cleaning has never been successfully made a national brand. Their entry into this area has been well thought out. First the purchase of 2 of the best chains in Houston. I could go into detail on how brilliant their choices have been in the selection of solvent, equipment, computer software, and top management; but I'll not bore you. Next will be Dallas/Fort Worth. This entry will take time due to the huge fixed costs involved. Watch!

Management and Employees are the most powerful source of sustainable competitive advantage firms have today. The Fool Krewe talks about the importance of good management. I'm a fool willing to bet on it. Good Leadership and Management of Employees is powerful and hard to imitate. Men's Wearhouse is one of the companies I teach when I teach HR, as an example of an organization that does things right. They have a strong culture in which employees care about helping one another and helping customers. I will elaborate on this in the next few weeks. But, suffice to say, I'm an HR professor who has decided to put my money where my mouth is. I believe that Strategic Human Resource Management has bottom line importance. So, let the HR based fool-folio begin.
