The recent payout of the CEO's exit (although he is retaining his position on the board) is more than the company's profit for the last FY. Details of the settlement are not public, so we don't know if it is over one year or 20, but still represents a chunk of change. The stock has been under-performing the DOW for a long time - although for those who bottom fished, there were rewards when the stock went from 0.50 to 35.00. Stock performance has been flat however over the last 5 years, fluctuating around 18, which is about half of what it was in the early part of the decade. No dividend payout - sorry, it will remain flat over the next few years.

Become CEO of NBR and retire RICH...no need to do a good job or make shareholders money that's not part of the package ;)

Beaten down unjustly because of the BP mess. Land based. Top notch fleet. Should generate decent cash flow in years to come. What's not to like?!

Baltic Dry Shipping Index at all time low. Great valuation. Good value here. also Dryships, Inc. (DRY)

If offshore drilling is limited or banned, onshore drilling will benefit. Taking 28% out of the company that is not affected by the ban is ludicrous.

Damn! Am I good or what? I picked the EXACT day that this stock peaked (6/30/2008) at $49.23 to go with a THUMBS UP, only to see it languish since then. Today (April 1st, 2010), it's sitting at $19.90. Very excellent, Gar. You da man!

Natural gas will be back and become a bigger and bigger source of energy. Drillers will be in demand.

THINKING MID 20'S BY YEAR END

This is not like a good neighbor, it is a good nabor. Tech will rise first and have the longest ride. As the age factor sets into this industry and replacements and storage becomes an issue again... well it is always good to know who your nabor really is.

Another stock oversold on pure fear, no news other than it will probably be a poor performer this year.

As much as the Greens and hippies would like to dream otherwise, oil is not going away anytime soon.
For anyone that believes that oil will not stay under $45 forever this is a win win.
- If the US goes protectionist, it wins as it has a large presence in the country and does not rely solely on the MIddle East for its operations.
- If not, demand will gradually pick up worldwide and I see no reason why it can't approach its 52 wk highs.

Narbors is financially sound with solid growth. A buy here is a bet that "Drill, Drill, Drill" isn't dead, dead, dead, but I think that's a safe bet. Economic reality will beat rhetorical fantasy every time, and the reality is we're going to need more oil very soon.
