National City Corp (NCC)

CAPS Rating:
*

A financial holding company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. Primary businesses include commercial and retail banking, consumer finance, asset management and mortgage financing and servicing.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

This Regional bank should remain one of the few to survive a major correction and consolidation in the financial markets.

Got out of this mess expecting a sucker rally, but even the sucker rally that happened didn't lift it. Getting back in before the bottom drops out.

This is a good bank. Stock is at bottom and will double easily within 2 years, maybe as little as 6 months. Takeover wouldn't surprise me.

They consider Countrywide their competition- and look how Countrywide is doing. Stock now trading at less than a sixth of the 52-week high. With the foreclosure pinch in their primary mortgage business, the timing couldn't have been worse for their recent expansion into regular banking with more bricks-and-mortar offices, now located between rock and hard place.
