Nasdaq is a difficult stock to model financially because the company has made so many acquisitions. That being said, the entry price seems relatively cheap at 1.2 times book value (but note that book value is almost entirely intangibles). The company also seems cheap relative to NYX and relative to its historic pricing (down 65% from its all time high). I think their strategy makes sense. I also hope the stock gets a boost as people accept that we have entered a bull market cycle.

Stock exchange markets around the world are moving their system to electronic-trading-system lincensed by NASDAQ.
NASDAQ is the leader in the US Market in terms of trading volume and good companies on its listing. When the overall market finally rebounds, the price of this stock is going to go up through the roof.

If you look at the daily trading volume graph, you will see that everyday for the past several months, volume peaks at the end of every trading day. Mutual Funds and Money Managers have been buying this stock each and every day. Because it is a bargain, and they knew it is a safe bet.

There is also a rumor that NDAQ will start paying dividend soon.

Should improve over time as the market slowly kicks back in.

They probably have the best chance to thrive in the industry. With the infrastructure in place to handle more trades than they can possibly get in the next few years, their incremental cost per trade is literally zero. That allows aggressive pricing, and with foreign governments putting rules in place that require trades go to the lowest cost exchange, NDAQ has the best opportunity to grow. Also, they are not vulnerable to increases or decreases in value of stocks, but instead they make their money based on how many trades occur. Whether it's people dumping shares in the downcylce, or buying them in the turnaround, volume is likely to stay stable or increase. NDAQ should grow.

NDAQ: NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. has acquired a few exchanges and integrated many new companies into its trading platform. It’s growing ridiculously fast and is priced like it’s never going to see the sun. Long term, I see trading in the marketplace ceasing to exist and it becoming mostly electronic and at the same time trading costs coming down. Right now, this is a great play.

With rising trading volumes in the stock exchanges, Nasdaq should earn even more today than in previous year. The stock has been taking an unfair beating due to underperforming financial sector. This is a buy.

Appears to be very undervalued. If there is a market recovery this should do well. Probably wouldn't try to catch this knife in real life, however.
