I'm getting into defensive positions and gold should do well with the global race by 1st world countries to lower their currencies.

When commodity prices rebound, which in my opinion will be within the next 4-8 months, Newmont mining will increase in value quickly.

Expect gold and gold mining to increase in the next 36 months. Great buy at its bottom.

Precious Metals are all going to POP to the upside now that all the evil Bullion Banks, ESPECIALLY JPM, HSBC, and Scotia (3 of the total 6) are done manipulating the paper price, providing a phenomenal contrarian play for entry into the Miners (which re down between 75-90%!!!) that have good B/S and Cash, along with plentiful mines that afford them access to Au and Ag for very good prices. The Miners who pay around $1150-$1200/oz are the ones who will benefit the MOST at first, as their margins have been squeezed to NOTHING. Companies like BVN, RGLD, FNV, GG, and others who pay just $75/Oz-$700/Oz for Gold will still benefit, but their stock prices won't accelerate as fast! NEM stands to benefit immediately and handsomely, as their input costs were between $1150-$1250. Barrick was slightly less with input costs at $1050-$1150,but BOTH stand to move up in stock price the fastest. RGLD and FNV pay just $75 and $76, respectively, perOZ mined, so while they offer the best overall LT Investment, it will take more for upward movement in Au's price for them to accelerate...

Stock currently trading near book value, at low end of its PE range, good yield (albeit decreasing). It's a large stable gold miner that's been around for a while and if things continue to get nasty it should be able to weather the storm by reducing costs and activity at more expensive mines. Long story short, the gold miners have been beat up beyond what is merited and with a long term outlook they should be a solid investment.

Gold prices should continue to remain roughly even over the next few months, until the fed ends QE and the price tanks. Once gold dips below $1,200 an ounce gold miners will be spending more than they earn from extracting the yellow metal.

Gold oversold. Physical demand around the globe will force a bottom at these levels.

Very good company performance metrics, despite the drop in gold prices.

This is probably the best metal & materials company out there. It has one of the best returns on equity and invested capital.

They are one of the oldest dividend paying companies, and have been steadily increasing their payments. They are shareholder focused.

Large amounts of capital expenditures relative to their depreciation suggest coming improvements to their mining capabilities.

I think it's a good buy at this level. I'd be surprised if it dropped much below what it is now... Ergo, I expect it will beat the market in the next few years.

Voltility in the market and changes all the mining companies are making. The trend cycle is more bearish.
