beaten up O&G company....buying low
Recs
Newfield has a history of walking the fine line between reserve adds at a reasonable cost (whether by drilling or by acquisition) and debt management. Unlike many of its peers who took on far too much debt only to see the NG price drop out from under them, NFX has said that it will live within cash flow.
The company has a significant position in numerous and varied onshore resource plays, and will be exploring in several other higher risk, higher potential plays in the future. The advantage to the latter is the low cost of initial entry. History has shown that the first player into a new basin almost invariably ends up with the most profitable position, assuming there are hydrocarbons to be had, of course.
Future growth will be obtained in the Gulf of Mexico deepwater, particularly in the subsalt plays. Newfield has a significant position here, and the inventory is growing at a reasonable pace. In addition, the company has had significant success in the international arena, specifically in Malaysia and China.

Low relative PE, good star ranking, PEG & 09 PE still below normal - bottom fishing 7/20 picks.
Recs
Even though demand is down at the present time.It doesn,t mean much. Demand will be back up by 2nd quar. 09 NFX is a bargain at this price.
Recs
Looks like oil is set to rebound to the high $70s in the next few months and likely higher out further. Natural gas waits on the hope of a hard winter in the US. This is probably a good time in general to buy large US Independents.

Natural Gas
Recs
Gas going back up. Demand not effected as much as oil by tough times.
Recs
Recs
Very low cost structure, which should provide some cushion if natural gas continues to swoon for a while. Mid-$50s is a nice long-term entry point.
Recs
Bullish on natural gas
Recs
Recs
Agressive company should do well in the natural resource industry
Recs
Recs
Great onshore NG play for the hurricane season.
Recs
The company is selling off its gulf coast wells, and also selling off wells in west texas. It has recently sold more than 40% of its wells. It is getting things in line to sell the whole company. How do I know this, my husband worked for them for the last 5 years. They are also pulling in and not fixing wells they are keeping.
Recs
Catch the dip in this stock. Check out thier financials. Looks like a winner.
Recs
Company's very large, unconventional resource projects in US are turning out well, yet not fully realized in stock price.
Recs
Reasonable valuation and
hitting on all cylinders with
operations.
Recs
heavy into natural gas; the Gulf, Mid-contient, and now Rockies with enough oil production to wait out the gas turn around
Recs
Newfield is moving to a better balanced exploration program, particularly in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, where they have acquired several very high quality prospects over the past few years. Woodford Shale and Monument Butte will provide stable, long-lived reserves for many years. As it stands right now, Newfield is a true value play with huge growth potential.
