Recs
Selling its largest cash generating asset to help fund domestic unconventional resource plays that, in general, have low ROR and long payouts.
Most if not all resource plays require large amounts of capital to keep production rates up and production growth possible which pushes the point of being cash flow positive further and further out.

Drill for oil and gas in some of the best plays around - used to be 2-3x higher than this - what did they do wrong - this wrong? Will be back strong
Recs
This stock is a bargain right now. It has nowhere to go but up.

undervalued
Recs
Incredibly undervalued, P/E of ~5 although the forward P/E isn't as rosy. P/B < 1. Substantial investment going back into the company and oil and gas production above its industry peers. Near a 52-week low from an over $70 high.
Recs
Nat gas prices can't stay this low. Period.

Newfield has a history of walking the fine line between reserve adds at a reasonable cost (whether by drilling or by acquisition) and debt management. Unlike many of its peers who took on far too much debt only to see the NG price drop out from under them, NFX has said that it will live within cash flow.
The company has a significant position in numerous and varied onshore resource plays, and will be exploring in several other higher risk, higher potential plays in the future. The advantage to the latter is the low cost of initial entry. History has shown that the first player into a new basin almost invariably ends up with the most profitable position, assuming there are hydrocarbons to be had, of course.
Future growth will be obtained in the Gulf of Mexico deepwater, particularly in the subsalt plays. Newfield has a significant position here, and the inventory is growing at a reasonable pace. In addition, the company has had significant success in the international arena, specifically in Malaysia and China.

Natural Gas
Recs
Recs
Very low cost structure, which should provide some cushion if natural gas continues to swoon for a while. Mid-$50s is a nice long-term entry point.
Recs
Bullish on natural gas

Recs
Agressive company should do well in the natural resource industry

Great onshore NG play for the hurricane season.
Recs
The company is selling off its gulf coast wells, and also selling off wells in west texas. It has recently sold more than 40% of its wells. It is getting things in line to sell the whole company. How do I know this, my husband worked for them for the last 5 years. They are also pulling in and not fixing wells they are keeping.

Catch the dip in this stock. Check out thier financials. Looks like a winner.

Company's very large, unconventional resource projects in US are turning out well, yet not fully realized in stock price.
