Looks like oil is set to rebound to the high $70s in the next few months and likely higher out further. Natural gas waits on the hope of a hard winter in the US. This is probably a good time in general to buy large US Independents.

NFX has sold off its more expensive offshore and international assets to concentrate on inland production. Production from the Woodford Shale in Oklahoma alone is expected to increase by 50% before year's end.
NFX gets to the oil cheaper than its peers and analysts expect 14% growth for 2009. As long as oil stays over $100 barrel, NFX appears to be a tremendous bargain. Even if the price of oil drops dramatically (not going to happen), NFX is better insulated than its rivals. Outperform.

The company is selling off its gulf coast wells, and also selling off wells in west texas. It has recently sold more than 40% of its wells. It is getting things in line to sell the whole company. How do I know this, my husband worked for them for the last 5 years. They are also pulling in and not fixing wells they are keeping.
