The fundamentals are ugly, as is this company's name and its 52 week high.
Recs
long on this, would prefer a small market correction to get a few dollars lower per share but buying at this level is still solid and its been receiving some good pub so more people will be giving it the sniff test

Has all the pieces in place to take advantage of industry growth.

The world's population is growing. The supply of water isn't. Demand for clean water goes up. Price follows demand. Etc. etc. And this company is all tied up in the business of clean water, right in the middle of it. Plus, it's a Buffett play. So ...

A consistent stock and a relatively safe pick in volatile markets.

The company is in water treatment, waste services, and supports the oil well industry. It is diversified, and green. These industries especially water treatment will become more important as the globe becomes more polluted (if you believe the global warming theory flooding pollution will become an important factor.)

Hopefully I timed this right. I would also like to quote their web site when discussing their Energy business. "With a continued emphasis on environmental leadership, we are a principal supplier of specialty chemicals and applications for the oil exploration, production, refining and chemical process industries."
Yep, that's right, a decent part of their business is in oil, too. For that reason, water business, and a forward P/E of around 17 or so, I'm thinking it's a decent value.

With the Olympics coming up. China will put on a good face and beworking hard to the next few months to get water as clean as possible

Based on earnings, NLC is trading at a 30% discount to its intrinsic value. I like this water pick especially for 3 - 5 years.

Good industrial company with one really terrible end market: Paper. Hurt them in 1Q07 which was a disappointment, but I'll speculate on a bounce back. Energy segment is strong. Should sell the paper business, and it will probably pop if they do.
