Cheap is always good. Not a perfect entry I'm sure but I like it well enough here. Let's look again in a few years.

Oil at a crazy low price. Sounds like a beautiful time to get in.

A great company that has been around over a hundred years, with a p/e well below the 5 year average, and plenty of cash to keep paying their dividend even if this oil prices stay down for years. So next year or two—who knows? But in five years time I believe this price will prove to have been a huge bargain.

Only way is up, and they'll be positioned well to kick back into the rig start-back-ups that will happen once oil prices stop leaking out the bottom.

simple, oil is down considerably, and in my estimation will stay down for all of 2015. Lower prices = lower profits

I'm buying National Oilwell Varco for these three reasons: (1) Based on what happened the last time oil prices crashed in 2009, NOV can handle falling oil prices better than almost everyone in the industry, (2) it is unreasonably cheap (if you think oil prices will trend higher over time), and (3) it has multiple ways to win. It can make smart acquisitions as panic sweeps through the industry, or it can buy back about 12% of its stock at a 10% FCF Yield (when the risk free rate is only 1.7%), or I believe NOV itself could be acquired by a company like GE or Berkshire Hathaway.

Recent factors have lead to a shrinking PE multiple chopping nearly 34% since recent high.
This isn't the bottom but it should provide a springboard for out-performance once low oil prices eventually lead to stimulation of oil prices

Added a RL position today at $53.50 per share, or a $24B Market Cap.

Once again, playing the cyclicality of the Energy Industry. Forward P/E of 10 is ridiculous for a wide-moat business with global relationships.

I'm not normally a fan of short-term outperform calls. But I'll make an exception for NOV.

It has a backlog that I think can outlast the current problems with oil prices. As long as companies don't back out of their orders, I think NOV will do well.

Solid company who's share price has been beaten down by falling oil prices. Once oil prices stabilize or even rise a little, the market will realize the value produced by this oilfield services company.

I'm grabbing this for the long haul. Let's see how long oil stays beaten down.
