Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

New line-up is a crash and burn after the fantastic 06 launches. Specifically, Murano was a launch ahead of its time with life still left to live. Rogue resembles something of a safety launch as to not lose its share of the crossover market but not attempt to break ground into a larger piece of th...More

Nissan is finally rolling out new concepts after a lull for a few years. They have teamed up with NEC corp. and plan on producing their own lithium-ion batteries by 2009. They plan to be producing 65,000 batteries by 2010 that they will sell to other gas-electric car makers.

This stock is going to outperform most other car companies. They have invested time and money into advancing technology with the lithium ion battery. Thier hybrids will have better gas mileage, last longer, and above all, be a Nissan.

Low PE relative to peers with a decent dividend. (9.9 and 4.2%) but more so positioning to be a leader in the electrification of the transportation sector.

Today brought a $115 million investment with NEC for Li-ion batteries for EVs and HEVs. They are partnered with Project Better Place which will provide a good volume to develop expertise in the product line and planning a wide variety of product over the next several years.

Gas prices are not coming down and the cost of carbon will eventually be accounted for. EVs of various stripes will be part of our future.

Good value. Good dividend. Good long term growth story line if you hve the patience to hold on a few years. My kind of play.

As much as I hate to say it, Nissan gets the "Underperform" pick for the time being. As reports released today indicate, Nissan looks to have less than average profit in the coming year or so. Thanks in part to a rising Yen and slightly stagnant US auto sales, things won't be climbing upward for the next four to six quarters. They're expected to take a 30% hit in their profits, even though they posted great earnings in the past year. Hopefully, Nissan can manage to keep their head above water by staying competitive in emerging markets.
