A Boston utility stock that pays a nice dividend while it contiues to rise stightly in price. Why not get paid while this utility continues to recover. Currentley there is a high amount of realty space available in downtown Boston ,but that will change once the demand chages..

I believe that NSTAR is in the right place at the right time with reference to new types of energy, i.e. wind and solar in the process of being launched.

My husband worked for NSTAR for 45 years until his death 2002 and was extremely interested in wind power to be launched on Cape Cod. He was an overhead linetruck supervisor in Boston area.

This stock is only down 2% over the past year despite the volatility in the market.

The shares trade at $35, down from a 52-week high of $40, producing a modest price-earnings multiple of 15 and a healthy yield of 4.2%. Both the P/E and yield signal a stock with a stable earnings outlook. Put another way, this is not a growth stock with a very high P/E, or low or negligible yield, but a stable revenue-generator during volatile times.

The company's business focuses on the distribution, transmission and sale of energy in Massachusetts. The company services about 1.1 million electricity distribution customers and 300,000 natural gas distribution customers. It was founded in 1886, which means it's seen a few downturns in its time and survived every one of them, including the Great Depression.

This stock is included in the Morningstar "Dividend Portfolio," which I use as my core stock group. I highly suggest anyone interested in dividend income take a look at this grouping of quality income producing stocks. This stock is the first utility holding for the portfolio, it pays a little less in dividends, but adds diversification to the overall portfolio and has a good dividend growth rate.

Demand for energy isn't going down any time soon. Nice growing dividend. PE at industry average stock at 52 week high. No bargain at this price but has long term potential.

Nstar is trading cheaper than most members of their community. This energy seller does not have generating plants, which allows it to be more nimble in the consumer maket place, minus the potential liability of heavy debt to build the plants.

Their dividend of around 3.9% is attractive.
