Leader in biotech innovation. Backed by its strong pipeline (the strongest among all other big pharmas), it has generated 11 billion in revenue in the last year. It has also hit jackpots after jackpots through acquisition of smaller firms that have innovations. I can definitely see this company grow and dominate the pharmaceutical industry in 5 years or so.

Long-term biotech boom play, it might continue dropping a few cents here and there but it is on it's way to a very bright future.

great current product line; great pipeline; well-managed; deep cash pockets to fund both further acquisitions and biogenerics which WILL be approved for the USA, just a matter of time; the current budget deficits and mounting health care costs necessitate this

NVS is an industry leader. Extremely strong drug portfolio, great pipeline and successful generics business hedges their risk of patent expiration. Healthy balance sheet, good returns on capital.

Novartis is a stable stock and they are highly diversified with four main business division- generic drugs, animal health, medical nutrition, Gerber & Ciba (contacts and solutions). Now they also have newly vaccines/preventive division. But the most important thing they got is the govt. contract for bird flu vaccine production.

Their HQ is in Switzerland and is a nice way to diversify portfolio w/ this relatively safe stock in Medical industry.

I found this stock using MTF CAPS. This is my #2 use of CAPS (playing with 5 star rating stocks). CAPS likes it. Several good positive pitches. Not one negative pitch. Well-known foreign company that sells drugs. Steady growth. Small dividend.

Novartis is a Switzerland based pharmaceutical company manufacturing drugs for the treatments of nervous system, cardiovascular diseases and oncology. It has 138 projects in pipeline for pharmaceutical development focusing on areas of high unmet medical needs.

Existing diversified product line continues to bring strong growth to the company driven by its market penetration. The company’s leading drug Diovan for hypertension grew 19% to record massive sales of $3.7 billion in 2005. Going forward, with strong market presence and patent expiries far away we do not see any major hiccup in the growth of some major blockbuster drugs of the company except for blockbuster drug Zometa, which goes off patent in 2007.

The company has also several drugs awaiting approval from the FDA. One of the significant investigational drug Galvus for the treatment of type 2 Diabetes is expected to be approved by FDA by the first half of 2007. Considering the fact that the diabetes market is expected to reach $26.8 billion in 2007, growing at an average annual rate of 8.3%, we believe Galvus has the potential to emerge as another blockbuster for the company in the long term.

We believe continued strong performance of existing drugs and expected major approvals from FDA would drive the company in 2007.
