Novatel Wireless, Inc. (NASDAQ:NVTL)

This stock is tradeing well bellow its 200 day moving average, yet all the fundamentals are still there. In addition, earnings were reported higher than those predicted in earlier estimates which is a positive for future growth.

The cellular providers are racing to provide high-bandwidth wireless networks to compete with broadband modems.
SWIR and NVTL are the leading providers of wireless EV-DO modems.

It's still too close to call to see who will own the wireless EV-DO modem market, but the good news is that the market appears to be big enough for both of them right now.

This company is well positioned in a market that is experiencing accelerating growth. Novatel Wireless' product market - mobile data access devices is one of the fastest growing sectors in the telecommunications market worldwide. Novatel's revenue will likely grow by 100% in 2007 to reach $435m, up from $218m in 2006 (up 35% from 2005). Going forward, mobile data usage is projected to grow 40-50% p.a. for the next 3 years according to industry sources. Novatel has a dominant market share in the US and is #2 in Europe where growth is currently fastest for mobile data access services. Novatel has a more diverse customer base than either Sierra Wireless which is #2 in US or Option which is #1 in Europe and also currently has a lead of at least 3 to 6 months over either on product introductions. Moreover, because of the product lead time advantage and strong mfg outsourcing relationships, Novatel's operating profit margins are better than those of either Sierra Wireless or Option.

Although I prefer largely another player in the sector as the multiples are much more attractive (Option International quoted on the Euronext Brussel Stock Exchange) I have a positive stance on all companies active in the wireless technology as this will become more and more the standard.

The 3G market is extremely hot and will continue to grow over the next few years.

The 3G market is booming. It's spreading to new markets and it's also spreading from tech/geek use into common everyday use. Novatel Wireless has a strong balance sheet and a strong product line, and is well positioned to reap the rewards.

3G, more subscribers are signing on..also like it's competitor SWIR

new contracts with verizon and other wireless providers for chip that enables high-speed internet via cell phones and blackberry.

Perhaps will be providng product for the new AAPL iphone
