Seems to me it's only going to be more bad news for this one, for the next few years at least - while we all watch unemployment figures. I noticed looking online they are having a lot of special sales in stores, but that may make it hard for the co. to get some profit going. Several years ago i bought this one while doing a free trial of Hidden Gems. It was a pick of HG then, don't know if it still is. Anyway, when it dropped to $13 a share years ago it looked cheap to me, so i couldn't resist buying (with real money in my IRA). Boy, was i naive about stocks. It was all a big lesson for me. I just sold off my 78 shares for a loss.

I'm not crazy about getting into the apparel stocks right now, although, New York & Company keeps coming back to bug me....., in a good $$$$ way. So, here's a small cap with a good financial outlook. a great game plan, a market for the girls, and it's Summertime. What's the last part of the puzzle? Women love to shop when things are looking down, even if they shouldn't!
Really, here's a good company at a bargain price and everything about them, tells me to buy!

At the bottom of the bear market in October 1974 a Forbes article interviewed Buffett. Buffett, for the first time in his life, made public prediction about the stock market.
"How do you feel? Forbes asked.
"Like an oversexed guy in a whorehouse. Now is the time to invest and get rich."

Probably a bit early on this call, expect the stock to fall to as low as $2 a share in next 12 months. But even at this price the market basically believes that stock is going to go bankrupt, but wait, the price fell not due to a huge loss, but lower than expected profits. Don't expect those profits to return any time soon, but if they ever do, a low estimate of this stock is $12 a share and if management could return the company to reasonable profitability could rise as high as $30 in next five years. (the low end of revised EPS for fourth quarter is 15 cents. If NWY can earn just 10 cents a quarter would have a PE under 10 at current market prices) To repeat myself, it certainly seems as if Mr. market has priced in all kinds of poor earnings and then some.

Christmas is coming and this stock is undervalued...people will buy a lot. Especially women who can buy buy buy. Gotta love the ladies!

Fall, Christmas and are giant shopping seasons and this store has been doing pretty solid, but there line of accessories has been ruining them. Hopefully they realize they should drop the price and offer more deals. I say start a shoppers reward club and offer them discounts based on how often they shop there.
Women who shop often like my GF say they love the store and other stores, but wish they gave bonus points to those women who come frequently.
This stock will hit $8 before the end of February.

Retail clothing has been hard hit but this is a good pick to ride out the storm and come out a winner.

NY & Co’s pant selection is great as they are readily available in petite, average, and tall and in several waist heights. BUT their shirt/blouse selection is miserable. It seems they simply rotate fabrics and use the same button front shape. The shirts that are different are usually made of some low quality fabric that I might use to change my car's oil with. Their jewelry is vastly overpriced. Additionally, they have been sending me discount cards just about every month to save $30 off a $75 purchase. Of course, each month when I visit the store, they do not have anything new in their stores. I walk out without making a purchase, despite the coupon. My advice to NWY is to focus on a niche clientele. Get rid of the casual clothing. Instead provide a variety of quality women's clothing for a business casual/ professional environment. Clothing should be trendy and fir well, but not too reveling.

OK OK, so they've had SEVERAL dissappointing quarters over the past couple of years. All I know is that my wife and and all her friends still shop there...and you've got to think that at SOME point they are going to design a line of clothes that will be a 'hit.' At this price (and with a very low PE compared to itself, it's industry and the market) I'm jumping in. Fearful?...nice you meet you, I'm Greedy.

No confidence in management, but at 7.38 it's a very tempting price for a 5-6 month gambit.
