NXPI's NFC technology will be heavily utilized over the next few years in phones featuring mobile payments. Rumors point to Apple adding NFC technology, and NXPI leads the industry.

I have learned that the most efficient process always wins out (eventually).
Unless there is some requirement for a cell phone hand warmer.(joke)
NXPI was first licensed with Arm technology in the US, more recently BRDM has picked up a licence.

Nxpi continues to be a diversified company with many areas of electronic expertise and product specialization which have each supported the companies mission. NFC is a small aspect of the company and along with its company patent chest presents a solid growing gem. I am long on this powerhouse and technology game changing company.

This semiconductor company is expected to grow big time, as they invented the NFC chip and own many patents on this technology. Wit h many phones, including iPhone, google nexus, Samsung galaxy, etc already using or soon o start implementing NFC chips, NXP will see demand for their chips grow. Also just developed a new audio chip for smartphones that drastically improves Audio output and volume, could be a big winner

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a wireless connectivity technology that enables convenient short-range communication between electronic devices. Applications include mobile payments, home control, and easy file transfer.
On September 21st 2012, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5, which will include NFC support. On October 26th 2012, the first Windows 8 phones will ship, also supporting NFC. Since Android already supports NFC, by the end of the year every major mobile platform will support this technology.
NXP Semiconductors has emerged as a leader in this area which is set to skyrocket in the next 5 years. Its major competition is a company known as Inside Secure.
Both Inside Secure and NXP have NFC APIs, and they are both vying to become the industry standard. Inside Secure's big customer has been RIM, who have bought over 20 million chips from them. Do you really want to invest in the future of RIM, a company in a death spiral?
As for NXP, their revenue breakdown certainly bodes well as almost 40% of their 4.2 billion comes from China, the world's largest mobile market. They invest $550 million in R&D per year, and their 10 largest direct customers are Apple, Bosch, Continental, Delphi, Giesecke/Devrient, Harman/Becker, Huawei, Nokia, Samsung and ZTE.
This is a great play for the future, especially in emerging markets.

Technology in this industry is going to explode. I'm not sure quite how yet, but just a few years ago I never thought I'd be surfing the internet from my cell phone.

Solid Q2 2012 results. Seeing solid growth in Identification segment, which includes fast-growing mobile NFC applications. Softness in Europe is biting revenue and margins in the short-term, but new NFC products, strength in China and Asia-Pacific markets, and growing adoption across mobile OEMs should keep growth flowing.

If NFC continues to expand globally, NXP is in a great position to maintain and expand its status as a leader.

The smart phone technology is very intriguing and the capabilities are almost endless, which is why I took a position in this stock. I think it will be a challenge for them to keep themselves positioned as the go to, but if they can hold back the copy cats they may very well make a huge name for themselves and their shareholders.
