Most people took the last 2 years off from building houses or buying cars. Are we suddenly going to use fewer of them? Owens Corning (OC) integrates this pent-up building demand with the possibility of increased energy efficiency. This is similar logic to buying Honda (HMC), although TM or F would probably work just as well. The dual reasoning is essential with these green energy plays as it is looking increasing likely that people in general, that is Homo sapiens the species, is not socially designed to think outside the benefit of his family or local tribe. If the total destruction of our civilization and death of 50% of humanity within 50 years were irrefutable, still over 40% of our senate would find a way to deny it if it was inconvenient. Hopefully those of us who are older will at least die well-off before then. This is not meant to be political, just an observation on mass human behavior.

The commercial and residential real estate markets have way to much supply, and with banks coast to coast stuffed with poorly performing Construction and Development loan, I don't think much construction will be happening in the next few years.

Inexpensive at this price. The housing market will be bottoming in some states yet this year. This will allow revenue to slowly rebound. They also hit the green market with their insulation and composites.

It's grossly undervalued and has nowhere to go but up much higher than the index will as a whole.

After the acquisition of Vetrotex BU from Saint Gobain, OC has clearly become the global leader in Reinforcement and Composites based on glass; great products portfolio, growing market share and solid management; with asbestos litigations off the back, the stock is destined to grow.

Another value based pick that has a low PE and is out of favor.

Good growth and earnings.

With wind power on the horizon, the ever growing importance of insulation, I believe that this company is well positioned to benefit tremendously, and a recovery in the construction & housing market would only be an added bonus. "All aboard!!!"
