Once this goes up it must come down, and who knows where it is going to land.

Here comes Hurricane Dean with more to follow. Add to that Long term demand and increasing instability in many oil regions and you have a recipe for higher gold prices.

im very bearish on oil. alternatives and disgruntled consumers will not allow the middle east to keep oil this high. i also think we are in a 1980's bubble with oil and this cannot last. fair price of oil = $30 not 70.

Limited resource...will be a bull for a long time. Alternative energy is on the horizon, but still a long way off.

Come on, anything with 'Oil' as its ticker has to be destined for fortunes.

The decision to keep the oil prices at current level after the recently concluded OPEC meet would support the rising oil prices. This would send the oil prices soaring up in the spring season and demand for gasoline is expected to pick up. Moreover the OPEC members seem satisfied with the oil prices hovering around $60 a barrel and would call for an emergency meeting if prices drop.

There is nothing much to expect from the non OPEC supply and once again OPEC countries are managing the market calling for a planned decrease in production to keep prices high. However in the long-term investment of about $100 billion in upstream petroleum projects would raise the oil production capacity by 38 million barrels a day in 2010.

Launched by Barclays Bank, iPath GSCI Crude Oil Total Return ETN tracks the performance of an un-leveraged investment in West Texas Intermediate crude futures, plus the return that would be earned by an investment of collateral assets in Treasuries. The close competitor for the fund United States Oil Fund that tracks the crude oil fares well with it low management fees of 0.50% when compared to OIL’s 0.75%.

The fund has been able to mop up net assets to the tune of approximately $1.4 billion. An AA rating by Standard & Poor’s for long-term unsecured obligation of Barclays removes the inherent credit risk associated with the ETN. The ETN enjoy a significant tax position being liable only for long-term capital gains when they sell their funds and not any short-term gains in the interim period. However there is no absolute clarity on the taxation issue awaiting clarification from the IRS. Summarizing the above-mentioned facts the fund is all set for another promising year.

Tracks oil and oil will go up again eventually, probably sooner than later.
