Great tool that has lost out recently due to people overhyping their competitors.

Opentable has a great idea that just hasn't been fully embraced quite yet. This is a very practical service and as people are increasingly becoming more reluctant to dial a phone number, this could prove a very useful alternative for both the consumer and the respective restaurant.

Good business model. Will find additional ways to get revenue

A guess for me, but I know lots of people who use this. I also like using it.

Stock has been hammered. Another play on economic recovery.

Red-thumbed this for a while and picked up points. Now it's time to pick up OPEN again at its depressed share price. OPEN has a huge advantage over other internet flame-outs in (a) the high barrier to entry and (b) exclusivity. Two businesses cannot play at the restaurant reservation game; OPEN has a lock on this space.

i was an initial critique of this company but proven wrong so far. At this point, the value proposition is far superior

EC says it looks promising from a technical perspective and is the market leader in online reservations.

Innovative Business plan with stratigic aquisitions to assist in building strong moat - strong showing domesticly - may be troubling in 2011 and some of 2012 in the international areana ( think Europe ) but I believe this will pass and Open Table will continue to grow and beat the S&P 500 in the long term.

Overpriced stock in an economy where eating out will be less frequent. Bound to affect the results here.

Seems to be the thing everyone is using these days.

OPEN is being hit with a 10% decline today because they beat earnings by $0.05 by reporting $0.33 instead of $0.27 however their Revenue came in at $34.3 million instead of $35.3. Really? So missing your revenue number by 2.8% when you show 53% growth isn't good enough all of a sudden. OPEN at $61.99 is priced at a forward P/E of about 36 for a company that is expected to grow earnings by over 38%. In addition their international growth is phenomenal given every category internationally grew by over 200% this last quarter. A true rule breaker.

In a nutshell, restaurants pay OpenTable a monthly fee to use their service and a transaction fee for every reservation. Diners use the service for free on the computers or smart phones. I tried out the service on my iPhone. Once the app started, it used the GPS feature on my iPhone to determine my location. It asked for the number of diners and the time I was looking to eat. Very quickly, a list of available restaurants loaded and I simply click the one I wanted. If you want more information, there are user reviews and a phone number if you want to call the restaurant. If you change your mind, just simply cancel the reservation at no charge.

I have been hooked on this service ever since. Think I will ever call a restaurant again to make a reservation, not likely. Why would I? OpenTable passes the first game-changing test.

Now let's look at it from the restaurant owner’s perspective.

First, if I use OpenTable's service, I don't need as many people taking phone reservations.

Second, diners who use OpenTable to book at my restaurant are likely repeat customers. Now I have their email address to send targeted deals to.

Third, if diners demand to book this way, I will miss out if I am not a member. Current OpenTable restaurants average 300 seats filled per month through the service.

Now ask yourself as a restaurant owner, can you afford not to use this service?
