Fundamental management problems. Strips Co-Founder of Chairman Title, Fires Two Execs.

I'm somewhat disappointed to find myself dropping a red thumb on Optimer. This was one of my former favorite stocks and I did once make several thousand dollars on it in the early days of the GBMB. However, Dificid is not off to an awesome start, with flat revenues around 10M in the first two quarters of the US launch. The stock is still getting some of the benefit of the doubt, having risen from recent lows around 10 seen towards the end of 2011. However, that upward float renders the stock susceptible for a major gap downward if Q1 2012 revenues disappoint. Ominously, I haven't heard any buzz about Dificid or seen any patients who have been treated with it. Optimer has also terminated development of their other advanced pipeline compound, Pruvel, leaving Dificid to bear sole responsibility for the company's future.

Market cap of $560... only commercial drug has done $24M in 6 months... they are already talking about increasing utilization with an expanded label, with no clinical trials for expanding their label underway.... you do the math.

FDA approval for Dificid to treat gram positive( C-diff) bacteria, a potentially deadly superbug which causes,clostridium difficile associated diarreah. (CDAD ). This is an alternative drug to Vancomycin which has been the main antibiotic to treat c-diff. In bed with cubist pharmaceuticals.

FDA Approval will bring this to $15 or more

midcap biotech with sales

Fidaxomicin will soon be approved, treats a major problem that is miserable and costly. They will be bought out or soon have a co-marketing deal taking the stock price up 50%. The product is a marketing dream.

Toxic megacolon is as bad as it sounds. There are several studies (see below) out there arguing that vancomycin is losing its effectiveness against C. Diff (as well as MRSA but that's another subject). Despite Vanc becoming more cost efficient I still think a significant market exists in this area along side Flagy and Vancomycin.

Unique drugs un advanced clinical stages. With many of the larger pharma looking for new money making patented drugs, M&A for companies such as OPTR will be on the rise.

This company's cure for c diff colitis looks extremely promising in clinical trials and may be nearing FDA approval. Should be a great take-over candidate if this occurs.

Consumer stables, recession, good prices.

This is the little stock that could today!!! Earnings dont look all that great and there really isnt any real selling.

Cautious but wouldnt buy at this price anyway especially when all my favorite stocks are super cheap.

Approval relatively close...prime acquisition target

big time insider purchases at these levels, late phase III trials, which are probably looking promising, at least according to management. Only 1 drug currently on market that's FDA approved, so OPT-80 has good risk/reward.
