Opexa, along with Cel-Sci and Arca, represents a small cohort of loser micro biopharmas that are attempting to complete a late stage trial based on weak midstage data and with minimal liquidity. All three of these companies are headed for bankruptcy and the only question is whether their trials will ever report negative topline data or if they will vaporize prior to trial completion.
I think Opexa will complete their Abili-T trial, but not within two years and not without substantial further dilution. Last November 18/180 patients had been enrolled and according to the most recent PR 48/180 patients were enrolled as of the end of April. That's an enrollment rate of about 5 patients a month, which indicates enrollment won't be complete until mid 2015. Opexa might accelerate that somewhat or possibly revise their protocol after suddenly discovering they can get by with 120 patients, or they might simply put their feet up and let their compensation roll in for the next few years. That compensation won't be coming from cash on hand, 8M as of the end of Q1. The quarterly burn has increased to 4M so about 20M new shares will need to be printed by mid 2015 (assuming the share price doesn't markedly decay). I believe the first of many more dilutive financings will occur within two months. Expect preferred stock or ITM warrants to be issued.

Fast Track status just announced by the FDA for its multiple sclerosis drug, Tovaxin. It is currently in Stage IIb of clinical trials, thus far showing effectiveness where other drugs have failed. Namely treating SPMS - Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. It also is thus far effective in treating Relapsing Remitting MS. Thus, it's a potential double winner in combating the early and secondary form of the disease. “The TERMS trial was a landmark study in that it was the first time that a personalized immunotherapy of this nature was used to treat MS patients,” commented Edward Fox, MD, PhD, director of the MS Clinical of Central Texas, and a principal investigator in the TERMS study. “The results were encouraging in that they supported the continued development of Tovaxin in both relapsing remitting and secondary progressive MS.”

If they can sign a pharma partnership for Tovaxin the stock should trade a lot higher. Mkt cap is very cheap for a company with a safe and effective MS drug in late stage trials.
