New AIS LEOS going up, new LEOS for M2M going up, well run business, no debt!

Has over $2 per share in cash and short term investments....way more than enough to cover current liabilities. Building revenues up....I purchased as a value play, but a good company IMO.

This met a high level screen to indicate a buy and strong outperform against its peers (other tickers in its industry). My 1st version of this spreadsheet devles deep into the company's balnace sheet and recent income statements, combined with other relevant price data for the company including insider/institutional holdings, short interest, debt levels, etc.
Testing capabilities of this 1st version of my automated, valuation spreadhseet matched with my personal criteria and see how it holds up.

This company is sitting on a global satellite network of 29 satellites. They are launching 25 more in the next two years. These satellites use a low frequency spectrum good for getting into tough areas.
Think of this company as the verizon for machines. Machines need to talk to each other too. Oil Pipelines, train cars, trucks, heavy machinery, airplanes, and marine craft. Think of all those tanks, containers, train cars, junctions, need to talk in real-time to each other and ultimately a tracking center.
They have 355,000 subscriber units now and expect to have 50 million devices using their services by 2012!!!
This market is blowing UP!!
BUY BUY BUY

They added 39000 subs on a base of about 280,000. That's pretty good growth if you ask me...

Communication to remote areas has always been a problem, with businesses like oil exploration, pipeline operations, vehicle fleet management and marine operations required to be in constant touch with their home office. Traditional service providers found it difficult to service such customers, as the locations were harsh and remote. The need was for players who had an efficient infrastructure in both satellites and terrestrial networks spread around the world that can fill the void.
ORBCOMM with its 30 Low Earth Orbit Satellites and terrestrial network is currently the only player who is offering such commercial wireless messaging system otherwise called M2M data communication systems. With presence in 75 countries and spread across 5 continents, the firm is well positioned to address the need of the market. The restructuring operations in 2002 gave a major boost to the firm, which since then has improved by leaps and bounds and its effects are still being felt. During the past 9 months ending September 2006 the company posting a revenue jump of 80% along with a 76% increase in billable customers is just a testimony to this.
The market for M2M data communication devices requires a good network infrastructure and for any new entrant it will take a minimum of 5 years and substantial amount of investment. Also the business model requires a player to have good rapport with value added resellers as they act as a conduit with the end users. These factors rule out any imminent competition for the firm. Currently of the 1.3 billion vehicles, units and devices 1.4% uses the M2M communication device platform and this number is expected to grow by 58% in 2007. With businesses spreading across the globe it will not take much time for corporations to turn to an efficient communication system to address their needs. ORBCOMM is well positioned to leverage that need. Combining all these factors ORBCOMM shares are heading for exciting times.

Top position in the market compared to other combined cellular/satellite location services due to superior frequency solution and bandwidth combined with very easy vehicle integration.

Asset tracking from space seems like a lucrative business to me. The clients ORBC caters to are well-financed, and ORBC continues to get new subscribers fast, which should all equal to growth for this stock.
