Strong orders, plus messing up for 3 quarters...equals huge profit margins. Products include suv like trucks...already has climbed a lot but still could go to 50.

Oshkosh Truck continues to beat it's competitors in the crucial government bids with its key Defense diviision. The "smart money" had written off Oshkosh Truck as too small to supply the government with enough armored vehicles for Afganistan and Iraq. But Oshkosh Truck is actually ahead of schedule in its production of these vehicles.

OSK has received an 1.06 billion order for 1700 additional M-ATVs. Great earnings ahead.

With the military orders and the need for new commercial trucks alone will propell this stock into at least the high $40's. If it gets more military orders for the remaining $3billion of the one outstanding truck order and the possibility other new orders will send this into the high $60 low $70.

Good company. Heard a lot of positive news about it before it crashed.

MF-SOTD at start. If Government Motors isn't building it, who? These little guys stand by with tools ready. Some off-shore competition and a chance with technical innovations that others will be wanting.

Lots of debt to not as much cash...does have a product for industries that will never ever go away...and regardless of economy the equipment needs to be maintained.

OSK's products are diverse and range over many buyers such as states, citiies, manufactures, contractors, and the government such as the military. Buying may be down now, but in a few years I believe that demand will once again be on a steep rise.

In the short term Oshkosh is going to be awarded (and has already been awarded) several military contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Oshkosh is a specialty truck maker and there are few of these companies that can compete for this business. The military will need to replace many vehicles lost in Iraq and will also need new designs for the future.
In the long term Oshkosh will continue to produce fire engines, cement trucks, garbage trucks and as the economy returns to normal the purchases of these machines will increase and Oshkosh will be able to rely on its basic business for the long term.

OSK's expansion into China bodes well for it's future.

I own shares of OSK. I have bought in three times as it has gone down from $14 to under $7. This company continues to win solid contracts for production (sure they lost a recent large military bid, but within a few days of that loss they announced a $51M contract with the US Army). They have a nice dividend and solid financials. I pick this one for a long term play. Short term it's going to be a tough market for them.
I also discount the theories that some have put forth that the new Obama administration will be detrimental to OSK because the new administration wants to pull out of Iraq. I discount this as a problem because Afghanistan is still an issue and there will continue to be conflict in the world whether the US is in Iraq or not. The military, who is one of the largest customers, will continue to need OSK. Additionally, OSK produces emergency services vehicles, these will continue to be needed as existing equipment ages out; and although state and local budgets are being crunched, these services cannot be discontinued and will continue to need funding.

This stock will be one of the first to breakout. I see it starting to profit now and this should continue until the bear dies and the bull begins to run again!
