Overstock.com, Inc. or OSTK This company is an online closeout retailer offering discount brand name merchandise, including bed and bath goods, home decor, kitchenware, watches, jewelry, electronics and computers, sporting goods, apparel and designer accessories. As school starts you see one of Overstocks busiest times of the year. The stock is climbing, hang on for a ride!

I don't think that low margin businesses such as discount retailers are good growth business. Also, the management of Overstock just seems moronic. I don't think that Pat Byrne could run any public company with success for any sustainable period.

This company has never made money -- in fact it looks like its lost money every quarter for almost 3 years. Sooner or later it has to crash....(I just have to outwait the market.....that never works well, o well, its a game)

Can you say fraud. How is it that a company who has never turned a profit is still around. Competition is better and there is something very odd about their accounting practices of recognizing revenues up to last year.

Patrick Byrne won't quit and has connections to big $.

Bad management, competitive market, bad management, low magins, bad managements, plus it appears that a sith lord is after the company. I sure ain't betting against sith lords.

Anyone who is familiar with the OSTK story of the last 2-3 years probably has a very strong opinion about the CEO PB, naked shorting and OSTK the business.
The OSTK message boards are the most heated I have ever seen.

It is often said that we should not fall in love with our investments, the opposite must also be true.

I picked OSTK to outperform the S&P over the next couple of months all the way to the end of the Q.
IMO, keeping a cool thought and trying to keep emotions aside will prove if this was a correct call or not.

At this point, no one really knows if this business will take off in the next couple of years but I am betting that in the short term it can inflict some damage to shorts

This company has far too many problems ranging from legal issues to website difficulties to a line of poor quality/obsolete items.

Add to this the volume of competition in a deteriorating Retail climate and the future appears even more bleak.

Just not a prudent investment anytime soon.

It's like "the new eBay" meets "the new WalMart".

THE ONLY ONLINE SALES COMPANY THAT IS GOING TO MAKE MONEY IS AMZN.

Picking the losers is easier than picking the winners! This one's easy. There's a reason I chose ebay and amazon over Overstock. And that reason will put them out of business.

When management tampers with the price volatility -- this one won't go quietly.

1.It is a perfect internet business that has been plagued by operational issues. 2. Operations are getting under control to reach profitability not just growth. 3. Patrick Byrne is not crazy, just emotional, and he is a very good investor.

Solid companies are getting killed lately, and this money loser holds its ground. Go figure. Never earned a profit ever. I think the recession plus higher shipping costs due to higher fuel cost will put a nail in the coffin of this one, it's debt another nail.
