With a $70B market cap, Occidental is well managed, and set to accelerate earnings as a benchmark for the industry. Resource competition is intensifying tremendously, and even discounting commodities speculation in the markets, the bottom line is that oil companies are commanding 2x to 3x more profit for the same barrel of oil and gallon of gas they have been producing all along, without having to invest heavily in additional refining and transport capabilities. That amounts to windfall profits driven almost purely by demand, folks - not political shenanigans (a la 1970's OPEC crisis).
