This is exactly the kind of company (land and materials), and exactly the kind of stock (dividend-paying), that will be thriving over the next three years or so (my minimum investing timeframe). It also stands about as good a chance as any to be a great investment for the next fifty years.
Recs
Exceptionaly well mamaged company that could benefit tremendously by a housing turn around. Even if no turn around in housing, company was the abilty to manage it's asset base to maximize shareholder value.
Recs
Consistent performer. Remains in core competency

Good REIT, probably most diverse timber holdings of any company, underlying land worth WAY MORE than values on books and you get "paid to wait"
Recs
Great timber holder. Good dividend. Also, since it's a long term asset, the dividends get to participate in the 15% tax benefit. Same with all timber reits, like RYN.. This one is well run.
Recs
Investing in timber has some unique tax attributes that make it beneficial to most investors.

Over the last hundred years, timber has outperformed the stock market. Check the numbers.

TIMBER USUALLY OUTPERFORMS OTHERS
Recs
It produces a renewal resource, wood.
Recs
Demand for forest products and property make 8 million acres of timberland a great asset. Good managment will continue to yield good returns.
Recs
Plum Creek Timber is one of the most solid companies in the resource based sector. With the entry of China as a new market for resources, timber should be there with other commodities commanding ever higher prices.
Recs
Trees are not likely to go out of style any time soon. Neither is land.
Recs
Low debt, owns it's stock in trade, leader in it's field. Won't get replace by plastic or metal.
Recs
This company has great long-term potential. Not only can it weather short-term fluctuations in demand (if demand falls, the trees keep growing), but its property continues to gain value as suburbia expands and PCL is able to sell forestland at significant multiples to its value as a timber-producing property (at the same time harvesting and selling the timber remaining on the land).
Recs
Terrific company trading at a slight discount to fair value. Wish I could buy shares for $31, but I'll take a Caps position at <$34.
Recs
Plum Creek Timber is a well-managed lumber REIT that can re-grow its inventory. By necessity, a timber company has to think in terms of generations, not quarters, so you're making a very farsighted buy. As the world's middle class grows, they'll need lumber for homes and businesses.
