Won't be at these depressed levels for long, trading at a PE of approx 15. Locking in that 3.5 yield and in for the long term. Plus I'm addicted to Mountain Dew and Cheetos...it's bad.

PEPSICO with the purchase of Tropicana, and Quaker Oats, proves that management knows how to add to the existing portfolio of products already know worldwide. Adding these products to pepsi's distribution know how will greatly enhance growth and earnings. You also earn a nice dividend while you wait (reinvest that dividend to enhance your own growth)

Strong global franchise with amazing prospects for growth in developing countries. Consistent dividend increases and an appeal to the younger consumer, This company is also positioning itself as a "green" company by embracing alternative fuel and recycling technology in it's plants around the world. Now, full disclosure: I am a Diet Coke drinker, but I do enjoy the salty snacks and will also buy the bottled Aquafina water from time to time... The pull abck on rising commoditiy costs is over done... Pepsi is worth 1/3 down... right here... right now...

PepsiCo, Inc. is a global snack and beverage company having presences in nearly 200 countries and territories. The company generates its revenues from Frito-Lay North America (32%), PepsiCo Beverages North America (28%), PepsiCo International (34%) and Quaker Foods North America (5%). The company sells its product under brand names, which includes Pepsi-Cola, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Aquafina and Tropicana.

The company saw a top line growth on account of higher volume coupled with increased pricing across all divisions. Its major revenue generating division PepsiCo International posted a strong quarter led by increased snack and beverage volumes. The company continues to enjoy strong growth in the developing markets; additionally, two of its major market UK and Mexico are posting positive results. The company is able to maintain its operating margin around 19% for the past few quarters, in spite of higher commodity cost and increased trade promotion spending. To offset this cost pressure, the company had to increase prices for Tropicana products at the cost of volume growth. Further, the company is also exploring longer-term supply chain efficiency programs to mitigate the increase in fruit input costs.

One of the key strategies of the company is focusing on its growth through the development of healthier products. Moreover, the company’s focus on innovation and premium products will improve its margins. Additionally, the company is giving a new look to most of its products by redesigning their package. Looking at these positive initiatives the management has also increased its earnings guidance for the full year to at least $2.98 per share. Looking at these positive aspects, it is expected for PepsiCo to reap from its initiatives and perform.

Look, I'm a Coke drinker personally, but it's not like Pepsi is ever going to go away. It's got a solid market, and the company's strong position in snack foods is a boon in our ridiculously unhealthy marketplace. Strong, trustworthy management and a decent dividend are the icing on the cake.

Pepsi is another nice dividend earning stock with good immunization to economic factors. It's not just the soda .... their snack foods do well too. I think it's a good solid secular stock to keep in the portfolio.

No longer automatically seen as Coke's number 2, their snack business along with soda and water leaves them better positioned across the globe. A steady value play with an excellent dividend and strong outlook for continued growth.

If you don't get Coke, you get Pepsi.

Pepsi owns so many beverages, snacks, etc, that I think this is a no-brainer. It's P/E is reasonable at 21 and the company has posted strong earnings the last 10 years.

Plus, even in a downturn market, people are still going to drink soda and eat chips...in fact that may be all they can afford.

Recent earnings troubles are temporary, solid company with a lot of strong brands. Not being able to keep up with demand for a product is a good thing long-term, regardless of temporary costs, because it shows product strength.

Great product, I like Diet Pepsi vs Diet Coke myself. As good as mgmt is they slipped up lately and are a target of AFA and a boycott of the products based on Pepsi giving big $$ and support to the Gay community. AFA usually wins and sales usually drop at companies they target. If PEP follows the trend, look for lower revenue for the next few months at least.

Its Frito Lay division claims over 50% of snacks available. The snacks may not be entirely healthy, but just try telling people to stop snacking. Removing trans-fat is a smart move, so is acquiring Izze and Naked Juices, both brands that present themselves as healthy and natural. PEP's international presence makes it a good hedge against the falling dollar. Anyone who wishes to participate in the world market can do so via PEP, without taking on the risks of owning foreign companies, whose political situations or accounting rules are unfamiliar.

Growing nonalcoholic beverage market share plus diversification from its salty snack business, Frito Lay. Room for growth internationally with the luxury of cherry-picking the good markets left untapped by Coca-Cola.

Current price is near 52-week high, so I'd wait for a bit of a downtick. Either way, this company will do well in the long run.

Because of the diversity of products Pepsi owns as opposed to its main competitor Coca-Cola, it will not get hit as bad by an advertising industry struggling to reach the younger crowd.

I love this company. Especially their choices in marketing soccer and how they have been steadily buying back shares and quietly becoming discounted at the same time.

Solid blue chip company. Pepsico is diversified and with Gatorade and Frito- Lay, has a significant lead in the sports drinks and snacks respectively. My universit recently switched from a coke only contract to a Pepsi contract, but I don't yet know if they offer better deals to schools.
