PepsiCo, Inc is in the F&B industry and the F&B industry generally remains cushioned from the effects of the markets.

Pepsi is available worldwide and it's brand recognition is strong.

It's main product is a low cost beverage. Something which enjoys mass consumptions, usually unaffected by market conditions.

When the global markets pick up, Pepsi should be brought up along.

One should not expect a jump up sky high as likewise positive effects are usually cushioned too.

A major plus point for me is Pepsi has recently increased it's dividend.

Something even the big giants out there will have trouble doing so in the current conditions.

This suggests a well run company with strong foundation and plans.

Stocks like this will fit into the buy and hold portion of my portfolio.

I was looking at different companies to put some money into and narrowed it down to six. They all pay dividends and are big solid companies (my prereqs). I liked them all but I ultimately decided on BP, mostly because their dividend was by far the highest of the bunch. I do not foresee any issues with any of these companies growing or paying their dividends and would gladly have invested in any of them. I then discovered what CAPS was and decided that I would use these six companies to start my CAPS portfolio. The six companies that I like are BP, XOM, PEP, JNJ, KO, and PG. This pitch is being used for all of these picks.

Youth and growing middle class in BRIC countries demand western lifestyles with relatively cheap splurges to Pizza Hut, etc. No natural limits to growth for next 30 years... Check out what happened to PEP in '83/84

Like Coke, Pepsi isn't going anywhere any time soon. People always want soda.

All kinds of products, good management, consistent sales and eps growth. In the long term it needs to introduce more healthy food products for the new health conscience population. I bought PEP at 52.64.
