Should beat lower expectations in future quarters.

I really don't what to say but I'm stunned. My generation(I'm 45 yrs. old) loved this brand. I can't see this stock going any lower. But what do I know about fashion. I'm not in my 20's anymore.

slamed due to reccession fears

This stock was picked in the Forbes Special Situation newletter by Vahan Janjigian. I am tracking these picks to see if the newsletter would be worth the subscription price.

Inventories are way too high and that's a concern, but this is a good brand that I think will weather a downturn. People still need to buy clothes and accessories, and people who usually buy higher end may find themselves cutting corners and saving by shopping at Macy's where they'll be impressed by Perry Ellis' selection at a good price.

A StatsGeek pick turned my attention to this. It's a solid mid-range brand and should continue to sell. It should be trading at at least 12x earnings, which it's still a ways off from.

Near terms continues to drop, reversing as consumer spending revives and recession fears lift.

The stock has probably been battered during the last few weeks because of the market conditions and the company lowering its 2008 earning estimates. I still believe it's a strong brand and will do well next year. The recent buyback should also help.

Perry Ellis brand featured prominently in Nordstrom stores, brand momentum shooting through the roof. A brand they own, Penguin, has been featured prominently on HBO's Entourage, a big boost. All of their brand portfolio is high-end. Look for some monster sales growth.
