The Procter & Gamble Company (PG)

CAPS Rating:
*****

The Company provides consumer goods products to improve the lives of the world's consumers. It is organized into three Global Business Units: Beauty and Health; Household Care; and Gillette GBU.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

P&G is a blue chip stock with a tremendous portfolio of consumer products brands. I am consistently impressed/appalled by their products/pricing. (such as when I purchase a 12 pack of Mach 3 razors for $25)

Consumer staples have outperformed since August and will continue to outperform in the nex...More

I purchased this stock on April 17 @ $67.50 per share. PG has in general matched the overall stock market returns for the last 5 years and more. A $10,000.00 investment made 5 years ago would now be worth about $16,000.00 or about what the average market return has been. This company has many great brand names and I expect it will continue to grow at a steady pace and provide a steady growth pattern into the future. I will hold this company but if the market declines as I expect it to this stock should hold up fairly well and at some point I will probably sell it and move into a faster growing stock for the future. I see this stock as a market performer.

Hey, if it's good enough for Warren Buffett, then it's good enough for me.

Even though the economy is tanking, we still need to eat and wash:-) Proctor Gamble is a solid consumer products company that sells quality products we all know and love.
