Tecnical analysis is an area of study for me, certainly not an area of expert opinion, but it looks like this could be a double bottom for this stock. Outperform.

Huge expected growth in the Philippines wireless market could drive this one up considerable, couple that with a dividend and you have nice potential for gain over the next 2-5yrs.

77% dividend growth on 39% payout, 15% insider ownership, ROE > 50%, but its debt is higher that I would normally prefer.

There isn't much to be excited about in the domestic telecom sector as compared to international companies like this one that are just growing like crazy.

I've seen this firsthand: telecommunications in the Philippines is HOT. There will always be a demand for communications to and from this country. It will be interesting to see, though, whether competition will affect PHI's performance in the long run. But for now, I'd go for this stock.

Play on expat funds leaving the US and heading toward the Philippines. I was recently in Manila and Hong Kong for business and the overall feel of both places was amazing. Influxes of capital have really changed the outlook of the country. There are corruption concerns but overall the government is more fiscally responsible as they posted a surplus in 2007

The Philippines, while still struggling with many issues, is on the rise for the future. A huge benefit comes in the blending of cultures, languages and locations: there are remnants of the Spanish colonization in parts of the language and food, the Asian location and influence of the Chinese and almost all Filippinos can speak English as well as Tagolog. This company feeds off the fastest SMS/texting population in the world, and is sure to only succeed (oh, and did I mention they offer a fair dividend?) :)
