Victory is sweet.

Polaris is the leader in the off-road recreational vehicle market, a market that has actually been doing quite well since the recession lifted and financing improved. It is run by veterans and has a nice distribution system here in the US and a growing one internationally. They are just getting started overseas, especially in India and China, and recent acquisitions in motorcyles will help distribute sales outside of off-road (where Polaris is having a lot of success in side-by-side vehicles, the best growing market). Furthermore, Polaris has performed quite well in Europe, too, where no one is really doing all that well. So overall I like the market, the company, the management. Margins may take a little hit here in the next quarter or two as some COGS increase and they won't be able to pass on the prices. But it's a short-term. If consumer spending continues and financing doesn't freeze up, then Polaris will outperform.

They've done well for me in the past five years, and I have the impression that they will continue to be dynamic and innovative.

I've owned Polaris for 20+ years. It's cyclical, but that's how it makes me money. Buy at 20, sell at 60; every two to five years - one way or the other. Be patient with this very stable, well-run company.

New and innovative ideas are always coming from Polaris! They have maintained a steady growth, and the sky is not the limit for this company--it is more like--"Out of this world" performance!

A GOOD COMPANY
Recs
Sales are deminishing but profit is still holding. Dividend is increasing and the company still has many outlets for consumer credit which is essential. Look for the Victory line of motorcycles to continue to gain market share from HD. From off road vehicles to street cruisers this company has a well deversified product line and strong brand name. This is definetly a good long term investment. Look for some nice growth late in 09 to early 10.

Company is in my home town. Good P/E and hear good things about new product line around town. Good stable investment with good growth potential.
Recs
Current recall of products deemed dangerous was "voluntary". This action should not dampen the enthusiasm for young adventurers who buy for the thrill of the ride or for serious users who need to access off-road sites or transportation authorities who need to access motorists stranded by highway emergencies like the recent ones along the California to Washington route and the often snow-blocked northern interstate & state highways.
