Profit taking ahead following the sudden price rise.

Buy out rumors have raised the price from less than $3 to more than $4.50 in the last few days. If there was another company interested in buying PLA, the recent price rise probably made the purchase too expensive. If they had already acquired some stock, they will likely try to dump it before the price comes back down.

buyout rumors appear to be just that, rumors.

Playboy will rise again. Why go to a club with strippers walking around when you can go to a club with Playboy Playmates everywhere. It is a tradition that has passed from generation to generation and in my eyes Playboy is more American than baseball. It is true that Playboy no longer possesses a monopoly of the porn business, but their future business model will have more to do with their brand name, and style than pornography. My biggest concern is who will replace Hugh Hefner when the time comes. Perhaps a reality TV to find the next Hugh Hefner is in order, it will be like American Idol with more cleavage, and less Simon.

With increasing debt and more and more porn being free online, playboy is in trouble. They need to completely change there imagine and focus more on making the symbol more prominent as a name brand sale item like: Prada, Ed Hardy, or Victoria Secert. Get away from magazine sales completely, but I own it because i am counting on a buyout. Bet on it. The bunny is worth billions in the right hands.

Its a magazine for men but preferred by women. They continue to loss revenue and increasing debt. Print media is becoming a novelty. They need to make big changes that i don't think they can do.

I can see two scenarios:
1) Things get better, stock goes up
2) Company gets bought out; value of brand should be more than current market cap

It's hit bottom and is now on the upward slope

why do we need this?

Major comeback potential.

The Playboy Bunny logo is one of the most reconizable on the planet. Sad how management can not find a way to make money with it. Once old Hef dies, and someone else is put in charge, this company will grow fast. I don't think Hef will see 2010.

Why buy Playboys when you have an open internet.

Been a rocky ride for playboy, probably taking a big risk but i cant help it. I think they are looking more into technology to get the product out now but it may be too late. I am going for an outperform we shall see what happens

Creating a portfolio based on calling outperform on every alcohol, tobacco, pornography and gambling stock I can find.

I believe I heard somewhere that people can get free porn on the internet. Not that I would know. But anyway, how can they sell what people are giving away for free?

Have you seen their balance sheet and cash flow statement? It's naughtier than anything they print, but it's something I would want my child to see (if I had one), because things like that are out there, and he should know about them ahead of time. Unlike porn.

Anyway, this isn't so much of a company (purpose: to make money) as it is an egotistical man's last wish (purpose: to keep Hef in a fancy house and nice cars, with four Barbieish girlfriends whose ages add up to his - none of which he could afford otherwise). It's like investing in Trump, only with porn instead of gambling.
