I love the idea of fuel cells, and own the stock, but it won't catch fire for awhile.

Hydrogen cars are starting to roll out. If they take hold of market share this company should jump into the black.

Sales last quarter grew 390% rising to $5.10 million. Analyst consensus forecast is for improved growth over the next two quarters. Long and short term debts are in line with industry averages, a.k.a. a solid financial condition.

Fuel cell technologies represent a next-gen application that will see widespread attention and implementation once the squeeze from high petroleum costs becomes too much to bear.

High growth potential with an emerging technology makes this price look like a good entry point.

This fuel cell maker has quietly entered steadily improving revenues, and has begun the sale of commercial fuel cell systems in niche applications. Applications in which - and this is the critical point - are economical, and a true business decision. Fuel cell industry trade claims are apparently true, at least somewhat, that the technology is entering commercialization. Finally. A not-widely-appreciated-or-loudly-heralded fact, e.g. an opportunity for the aware investor!!

Plug Power is the brains behind Honda's Home Energy System. Honda is testing version IV of its residential home power system and fuel cell power plant. This is Honda's solution to the hydrogen fuel cell supply problem holding the development of fuel cell vehicles from becoming marketable. Using a home's existing natural gas supply, the Home Energy System converts the methane in natural gas into electrical, heating and automotive power. It current takes 12 hours to convert natural gas into hydrogen and 2 minutes to fill a fuel cell vehicle. I don't have to tell you what will happen, not if, but when our current power supply fails how popular this will become.

As oil prices soar, alternate fuel sources will get hot

Plug Power. At this time, it seems we are looking for a way out of relying heavily on countries overseas to provide us our crude to warm our houses and run our cars as it becomes more and more expensive. Not to mention we all want a fresher cleaner earth and Plug Power seems to have a closer solution to weening us off the Texas Tea.

With the emergence of fuel cell powered vehicles and the rise in oil prices long term investing and product development will go more and more into alternative energy sources. Though PLUG has the systems in place to supply fuel cell generated power, the orders are not living up to expectations. I see this stock as a long term hold before it takes off

With BMW already advertising its hydrogen fuel-cell research, and General Motors (NYSE: GM) shifting 500 of its fuel cell scientists from research to production, it is clear that some companies in the automotive industry haven't given up on hydrogen-powered fuel cells. Two new advances appear to justify this optimism.

University of Virginia researchers have discovered a new class of material that can nearly double the amount of hydrogen capable of being stored. And at Pennsylvania State University, scientists demonstrated (ya gotta read that one if your serious)a new microbe-powered device that extracts up to 99% of the available hydrogen from different biological compounds.
