Invested in mid-June in direct stock purchase plan through BNYMELLON and no transaction fee. Pays around a 6.5% dividend yield and is discontinuing much of its non-utility related businesses which have been a drag on earnings. Also, I can't remember where, but I read an article I clicked on at the Yahoo!Finance page a while back that said they had plans to build the world's largest solar power generation plant, which is supposed to power something like 70,000 homes. I like that. Rated three stars by Standard & Poors. Nice dividend and a direct stock purchase plan with a minimum initial investment of only $50 and no transaction fee.

Nice company with great consistent div. Cash and debt look great. Div should continue. Doesnt move much price wise. nice safe investment that should edge slightly higher than the S&P. The price is a bit depressed at the moment. Should beat S&P during the price recovery.

6.5% yield, well covered currently, they do raise it slowly. I don't like the real estate exposure so this will lag a little behind straight utilities will be the safe haven of choice for retirees who don't want bonds and money market accounts.

They are in a great position to capitalize on the growing alternative fuels market of SW USA. They are also priced at a value right now due to the ignorance of the Arizona Corporation Commission. This is a definate buy and hold.

Trading at the low end of it's historical price to book value, this utility offers a nice dividend and 25%+ upside potential in the next year. Stock has been overly beaten down due to it's real estate ops, but that seems to be more than factored into today's price.

Since I only do this on sundays...
I used Bates' DDM and project 50.44 for this stock. I undertook my investigation of the electric utilities sector starting with the idea that this is a mature sector, probably the first to get out of any slump.

This stock has been beaten up so that it should outperform from here. It needs some good newa on the nuclear front which may take some time to develope but you are compensated while you wait.

Arizona Public Service (APS) provides electricity for most of Arizona and alos sells power to other western states. Concerns are their Palo Verde nuclear plant which has already come under scrutiny after a series of operational problems in the past two years that caused prolonged outages. The outages have cost at least $45 million to buy power on the open market to make up for lost generation. "They have had a problem with human performance, and in properly identifying problems and finding resolution" over the past few years, said Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman Victor Dricks, referring to APS. While Dricks said the NRC may put Palo Verde on extra watch, the plant is not a danger to public safety and is operating safely. (http://biz.yahoo.com/seekingalpha/061120/20935_id.html?.v=1) PNW runs 3 of the 103 US nuclear plants with Palo verde being the largest in the US. Pending rate hike request expected for January 1, 2007 which could be catalyst for moving the stock price out of the $38-$48 range it's been stuck in the last 2 years.
