Recs 0 (POOL) metoo105 (99.79) Submitted: 5/26/08 6:53 PM : Start Price: $20.39 POOL Score: 8.39 Somehow the analysts have this company hitting the numbers they hit last year, even though the home equity and second mortgage markets ain't what they were then. It doesn't take a genius to know that this company is in for a world of hurt, when they surprise on the downside next quarter just like they've been doing these past two quarters. Only a big difference here is that this company is seasonal, and nearly all of its earnings for the year are scheduled due this next quarter. New pools and pool care are an optional expense and one that will probably be one of the first to go as Americans adjust to living within their means. Once they miss on earnings next quarter, investors will no doubt start to take an interest in the other unattractive numbers: Low quick ratio (solvency ratio); long term debt that's doubled over the past two years to $280M. This seems to be a well run profitable company that has been pounded by the housing slowdown. I look for this to rebound when housing does. Could be a while, but this strategy is patient. Recs 0 (POOL) SaintCroix (79.85) Submitted: 12/09/07 5:49 PM : Start Price: $22.15 POOL Score: -6.82 Stock has had a 50% haircut due to subprime woes, even though at least 95% of pool owners aren't going to be subprime. Furthermore, most of Pool's revenues are recurring. Just look at the difference between its summer business and its winter biz. So even if credit gets tight for upper income Americans, they'll still pay to keep their pools clean. Shares are cheap.
