Eggs are being bought at market spot price due to Avian Influenza. This will diminish margins and hurt parent company (Post) in the upcoming quarters.

Avian Influenza knocking POST down, the impact on 2015 and 2016 earnings may be pretty significant, though more major declaration will mitigate some of the pain. 3 years from now, no one's gonna care, and earnings power does not look permanently impaired by this issue. Borrowing capacity and debt levels are probably strained but well within management's ability to manage.

Avian flu scares hitting its flock and it kicked off force majeure clauses. EBITDA will definitely take a hit this year but over the next several years it won't. Price increases will likely be coming too. And the company is consolidating its operations together, which will shed some jobs. The stock has rebounded off lows but its still cheap. Long.

With POST's high leverage, I think risk / reward is tilted the wrong way.

Having read up on new CEO Bill Stiritz, I believe in his ability to run a profitable, efficient company that makes smart buys destined to pay off. Through acquisitions, Post seems to be building a diversified portfolio of staple foods that'll help drive solid long-term results.

New CEO is taking Post in some new and very intriguing directions. Not just a cereal company anymore--in fact cereal accounts for only about half of sales, and that share continues to shrink (was at 80% less than a year ago). High margins and strong free cash flow growth should continue.

This holding company is a little over 2 years old and
the CEO has a track record of rewarding share holders.
It has recently borrowed a lot of money but holds it in current assets.
Some risk but it could turn into a big winner.

Bill Stiritz, a proven Outsider CEO, know how to allocate capital.

Good brands, strong cash-flow and good capital allocation chops. Who could vote against Fruity Pebbles?
