My thought on sector selection is to simply invest in where you pay your bills: utilities, consumer staples, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and defense (you pay taxes, don't you?).

There is going to be another arms race.....The west vs. Russia/China. Putin is awash in Petrodollars and is going to spend it on defense. We will react by doing the same!

US commitments to sell or provide defense items to Middle Eastern countries and ongoing requirements for the war on Islamic terrorists should provide a long term boost to this sector. Increased aid to Israel will be a natural result of this.

With Dems coming into office in January, the defense and aerospace industry will stagger for a few months, until the first spending bills come up for discussion, then we'll be back to business as usual. In the meantime, I'm holding off.
