The Activist Spotlight

PRGX Global (ticker: PRGX)
Business: Audit, recovery, and analytics software and services
Investor's Average Cost: $6.39/share
Stock-Market Value: $210 million ($7.03/share)
What's Happening: Becker Drapkin Management has acquired a 6.3% stake for investment purposes

Key Numbers:
83.25%: the average return on Becker Drapkin's 16 13D filings (versus 25.90% for the S&P 500 during the same spans)
11: number of 13D investments through which Becker Drapkin received a board seat
114.13%: Becker Drapkin's average return on those 11 investments
27.39%: average return of the S&P 500 in the same periods

Behind the Scenes: Becker Drapkin, an activist, focuses on companies with market caps under $1 billion. It has won board seats at over half of the companies on which it has filed 13Ds.

This situation involves a management team in transition. On Nov. 15, 2013, PRGX announced that its president and CEO, Romil Bahl, immediately would be leaving his posts as an officer and a director. Ronald E. Stewart, a board member, was appointed by the other directors to serve as the company's interim president and CEO. And on Dec. 13, PRGX announced that the board had selected Stewart to be the company's permanent president and CEO.

This stock is very cheap, partly because the former CEO was pursuing a very costly health-care initiative focused on Medicare business. The new CEO is streamlining costs and no longer pursuing that business. Based on its history and activist philosophy, Becker Drapkin is likely to support the new CEO, making it likely that this will be an amicable activist engagement.

High growth and returns at a cheap price. Also, it derives much of its revenue from overseas operations. Strong company, and a great deal right now.

After such a large recession many companies will want to get audited so reduce the impact of such an occurence in future. They also are selling a service so don't have to worry about warehouse, inventories, etc

I'm with tomfoolme & all the bulls on this page. This just seems unbeatable, of course I own it. I think there was a Motley Fool article comparing its tracking to Hansen (you know where $10,000 of Hansen in 2003 would equal $4 million today). I think the article actually named three stocks with such a tracking, but this was by far my favorite.

Noted recent bullish insider activity and now three straight earnings beats with little stock movement. This will change.

PRGX is positioned perfectly for the kind of economy that the U.S. will be entering. In at $10 and holding for one year.

This comany is posting big results by exploiting what amounts to harrassment of the little guy, namely individual physicians. Using extraordinarily complex and convoluted billing and "recapture" loopholes in the Medicare regs, they are browbeating doctors, who simply cannot afford the time and expense, and who don't have the cloout to fight them, into refunding moneys from years back billing. Medical societies, hospital groups, and now lawmakers are demanding investigation into PRG Schultz' practices. When they are forced to back off this unethical behavior, profits will drop like a rock. And should.
