Strongly undervalued by rumors of management having excessive remuneration. PSEC has a good risk/reward ratio and a well balanced portfolio.

Prospect Capital is about to split into 3 separate companies. But it's not one of your average splits. Those who own x shares now will not automatically own X shares of each spin off. Instead, you have to buy them - at a discount. But even so, current holders will be bag holders as they will have to pay more money to retain the same assets they already own.
The idea behind this particular type of spin off is not to increase shareholder value, but to raise the total asset value of the three companies. This, in turn, will raise the administrative fees of the managers involved; who are paid according to the total amount of assets they manage.
So it's just another ploy to line the pockets of managers who have already managed to devalue the company share price by half. Management has mismanaged this company and continues to show a willingness to drive it right into the ground to feed their own bank accounts.
This is why PSEC, even below book value, is a bad investment. There's no reason to believe the three companies will be managed any better than the one, and the spin off itself will devalue current shareholder equity.
Share prices have lost half their value in the last 2 years and management has given no reason to believe it will not continue to decline - even after the spin off does its damage.

Sure, it trades at a substantial discount to NAV, assuming you believe their books. Something smells. Stock issuance below NAV, mismarked assets, sketchy rights offerings to disguise additional dilution and whacky asset valuations. I wouldn't trust this management team with a nickel. It's bound to blow up. I don't think you'll get anything close to a market beating return here.

Some questions still outstanding related to accounting issues, but should get cleared up and expect to outperform the market

My projection of below average market performance for PSEC in the intermediate term is based upon my loss of confidence in senior management. I am pleased that the BOD bit the bullet and reduced the dividend, and finally stopped destroying shareholder value thru issuance of shares at below NAV, But the BOD continues to raise compensation for "external" advisory services increasing in 2014 from over $40 million to over $60 million for an external advisor which is run by the same senior management as PSEC!! So while we shareholders take a dividend cut and a loss of NAV, management gives themselves an enormous pay hike . We shareholders in effect left our dividends in the company, and greedy management grabbed it for themselves!!

PSEC are not able to cover their div.,and they are diluting their shares rapidly. It's true they have been raising their div each month, but by a fraction of a cent ($0.000025) - inflation moves faster. Sooner or later investors will run and the value will take a nose dive.

On paper this company is great: High, steady dividend. The problem is, they issue so many new shares that you don't get much value from holding onto the stock.

I've held this in CAPS and in real life. In neither place did I make money; I sold all of my shares.

Substantially undervalued because investing public doesn't understand the business fundamentals.

if we can believe PSEC that the SEC restatement will not inpact the financial well-being of their balance sheet going forward, this is an excellent entry point.

very short term bear on this as ETF selling pushes it down to 10. Then up as the world realizes the dividend is solid
