Energy prices will only rise over time, and Prospect is a very well managed company that will do a good job of managing market volatility

PSEC has a too high valuation compared to its sales potential.
Moreover its stock price touched a low below 6 in March 2009, as its ‘portfolio consists primarily of level 3 assets for which there is no actively traded market’. It distributes an unsustainable dividend.

The industry is not so bad off.
The world's excess CO2 can be dealt with biologically. I don't believe global warming is really a big deal. If you do -- then buy some future beachfront property in Alaska for your retirement.

The dividend is high, but with that dividend comes a payout ratio of 145%. This is very high, and in fact makes me a tad bit uncomfortable. However, the 5 yr average dividend is 9%.

Over the past 3 years management has shown its effectiveness in increasing book value. The management seems to be extremely qualified after the limited research I did on the internet. They at least have stellar academic records and lots of experience.

Price to book ratio of .85 is way too low for such a solid company.

The dividend on this is 15%. Need I say more? Oh yeah icing on the cake. Lots of insider buying around $8-$10 stock is now at 11.2

This stock will double before too long.

Why do I like this company? Huge recent insider buying. Gigantic dividend yield with a recently increased payout. Cheap valuation based on earnings and cash flow. Improving economy. Why dont' I like it? It's cash flow negative, has a lot of debt, and is heavily shorted.

This stock is a classic case of an undervalued stock identified with a Price/Book ratio <1.0, a low PE, a positive ROE, and a high dividend yield.

Prospect just bought Patriot for 54% of its equity value. The deal is supposed to be 10 cents accreative to earnings and they say they are on the look out for similar deals for the over leveraged peers. They look like a winner in this financial crisis and should become a much larger player in the middle market for debt. I like them a lot. Also as a BDC they pay out nearly all of their earnings as a dividend which is around 15% today.

Huge dividend that's not threatened and it's been raised every quarter for the past 19 quarters.

they were smart enough to buy my other company, PCAP at a large discount. i figure, when management starts to outsmart me, i'll let them go ahead with it.

large dividend, ballpark 16% at the moment. this will crush the market in the next 5 years.
